In reply to: [Jetpack VideoPress] Can’t upload videoHey @laurareturner
What is the site URL you’re trying to upload the video to? Also, could I ask what’s the account you’re using (the one you disconnected-connected while trying to solve the issue)?
Thanks

In reply to: [Jetpack VideoPress] Error when uploading mp4 video filesHi! I just wanted to note, if your site is in staging mode or disconnected, VideoPress will not work properly: https://jetpack.com/support/jetpack-videopress/troubleshooting-video-hosting-issues/

In reply to: [Jetpack VideoPress] Can’t test the free plan from test environmentHi there!
Starting with the free version will try to connect your account to Jetpack in order to use the backend features. Is your test environment connected to internet? Even if the process might have not ended correctly, you should be able to see a “Jetpack” side menu entry with “My Jetpack” and “VideoPress” sub items.
Could you check if those are present? You might attempt a reconnection from those, otherwise here’s an article on how to check/solve Jetpack connection issues: https://jetpack.com/support/getting-started-with-jetpack/fixing-jetpack-connection-issues/

In reply to: [Jetpack VideoPress] Local development of VideoPress websiteHey @bentonboomslang!
VideoPress is a plugin that provides a block that uses backend services from WordPress.com infrastructure through Jetpack, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use videos while on your local installation. Using a locally hosted video with the video block should allow you to develop your site.
When VideoPress is connected through Jetpack, it provides video processing and hosting on our CDNs, multiple video definitions and a more suitable UI, both on public frontend and in the editor. It also allows you to set videos as private and poster selection from the video itself.
However, Jetpack connections can’t be established from local environments and are mandatory for VideoPress to work with all its features.
My advise would be you can develop your site using local videos with the video block. Once you go live, only then install VideoPress and go through the Jetpack connection process. Posts that hold video blocks can be converted to VideoPress blocks with a single click while editing such posts.
We offer, as always, a 30 day period for refunds, no questions asked. So you can use that to try out all the features and see if it suits your needs.
Read more about it here: https://jetpack.com/videopress/

In reply to: [Jetpack VideoPress] embed.ly – and informations retrieved from videopressHey there!
Ok, so I’ve dug a bit into this. The video you shared is private. oEmbed processes are meant to be discoverable in public, I’d recommend turning the video to public visibility before continuing.
From what I can see, oEmbed discovery links are provided on the main body of a video response as long as the video is public. You can inspect this public video’s HTML, look at the
<head>
tag, look for<link rel="alternate" ... />
:https://videopress.com/v/P5NFP2ck
From there you’d get that the oEmbed URL would be something like:
From that point on, it’s up to embed.ly to handle the oEmbed response properly.

In reply to: [Jetpack VideoPress] embed.ly – and informations retrieved from videopressHi!
I see that you tried with the actual file URL https://videos.files.wordpress.com/kphgZdLw/rick-astley-never-gonna-give-you-up-official-music-video.mp4, but I was suggesting you try with the video URL, as seen your screenshot just below the video preview on the right.
The video URL follows this pattern: https://video.wordpress.com/v/SOME VIDEO ID
Look at this screenshot, maybe I’m not making myself very clear: https://prnt.sc/Ji-hqhf7Lpe8

In reply to: [Jetpack VideoPress] embed.ly – and informations retrieved from videopressHey @lolofora!
We haven’t tried embed.ly, have you tried embedding the actual video URL instead of the post URL? In your first screenshot, you can see the video URL below the preview, on the right.

Hi @brandonjp
The Jetpack Contact Form has an option to configure the email where the responses are being sent. Can you confirm the block is set to send emails to the right address?
Other than that, we’d need more details about your setup to try and figure out how to help further.
HTH,
Hi!
I did run your site through GTmetrix and I didn’t get the error you described. This is likely a networking issue and not related to any plugins/setup on your site.
That said, I do see what you mention regarding performance, and I’d say it’s split in 2 main concerns:
- Server response time is taking too long. This is consistent with the error you reported, I’d look into how DNS are setup and talk to your hosting company regarding name resolution and server response times
- Most of the performance issues come from Elementor plugin assets and its addons and can’t say for sure what’s a good course of action, we do not provide support for third party plugins. I’d recommend search on Elementor’s support or knowledge base to see if there’s any performance adjustments to be done
Jetpack Boost should be able to help, but we can’t be sure how Elementor is setup on your site.
I do recommend, when debugging a site’s performance, start deactivating some plugins and try again, try to pinpoint where the issue is.

In reply to: [Crowdsignal Dashboard - Polls, Surveys & more] Classic EditorHi @tovamoskowitz thanks for reaching out.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience, we’ll update the plugin’s description for v3.0.0 onwards.
Gutenberg is not needed for this plugin to work (although the styles of the admin page might look a little off), but we’re moving away from our legacy poll editor. If it helps in any way, creating a poll from app.crowdsignal.com com is as easy and the shortcode can be crafted with the poll ID (that shows on the address bar), like
[crowdsignal poll=XXXX]
(XXXX would be the poll ID). You can also get it on the “Share” section of the poll for the slider option.Otherwise, we’d recommend downgrading to the latest 2.x version of the plugin. We don’t have a schedule for it, but it will eventually become deprecated as we can’t maintain the editor anymore.
Thanks!

In reply to: [Crowdsignal Dashboard - Polls, Surveys & more] Server ErrorHey @barbassoc Thanks again for the report.
We released a new version of Crowdsignal Forms (v1.5.6) which should solve the problem. We’re also talking to https://disconnect.me/trackerprotection who are responsible for getting our domain on this blocklist due to us tracking visitors when we actually don’t (we only use a cookie based on our users request to prevent double voting).
Don’t hesitate to come back if more problems should arise.

Hi @cbratschi
Thanks for the report. The plugin is going through a security and privacy review as of v3.0.0, with the most noticeable change happening on the wp-admin area.
The support note (link above) mentions how to access the old editor, or you can simply keep creating polls from Crowdsignal (using the credentials previously used for the plugin) and get the shortcode from the Share section of the poll.
If you want to continue using the old ways, you can uninstall the version 3.0.0 and install an older one from https://github.com/Automattic/crowdsignal-plugin/releases

In reply to: [Crowdsignal Dashboard - Polls, Surveys & more] Server ErrorInteresting. My test vote was done from Edge 91.0.864.71, but it’s also true all browsers have been hardening security measures.
Having said that, we haven’t had (so far) complaints towards voting on our polls. I just updated Firefox to the latest version and placed yet another vote:

We’ll be looking into this and will notify here as soon as we get some insights on the issue.
Thanks for the report!

In reply to: [Crowdsignal Dashboard - Polls, Surveys & more] Server ErrorHey @barbassoc
I visited the page and I was able to vote. Twice (tried incognito/private window).
Can you provide some screenshots or more details on the issue?
Thanks
