3. I do not get an email from wordpress despite this critical error. I even have mail logging installed and can see that no eamils are sent

In addition, we have turned off tracking in Mailpoet so that at least the links we send in newsletters work. But our users still receive these non-working email confirmation links when they sign up for our newsletters.

Actually, no, the link that was sent in the emails that was supposed to take users to the login page still doesn’t work and results in a critical error:
