I stumbled upon the fix. In the WP Dashboard, under WooCommerce in System Settings, I had a message under PHP Sessions that said that I had to have my host specify the php sessions path. I had my host do this, and now I can put things in the shopping cart, so that seemed to be the fix.

Ooh – I know this one! ?? After adding your values under the Atributes tab, you have to save the product. Then you can go to the variations tab to add your details.

Keysuuh – that fixed it – thank you so much! I thought it must be something simple that I was doing wrong, but there were so many opportunities for doing something simple wrong, it would have taken me a while, if ever, to figure out exactly which one it was ??

I just discovered that the price says Free! on simple products too, even though I have a price set. I think I must have changed a setting somewhere, because a simple product did show the price correctly when I first started adding my products.
