Ok – having had a glance at that I think a complete wipe is the easiest option. it’s a small site and I have all the pages/posts separately on my pc.

Thanks for moving me to the correct forum! My bad. Yes i’m guessing it has been hacked at some stage – hence the bogus posts.
I ran wordfence and it gave me a couiple of things to remove and then subsequently changed all the logins and updated all the plugins
