Just realised my shared hosting package was running PHP4 and I’ve enabled 5 all is good!

just ordered a new server, get a similar but much smaller error: /var/www/vhosts/crswebdesign.co.uk/httpdocs/wp-includes/piecemaker-images/piece1_20110205113636u.jpg100 100 piece1.jpg – Write file error! Please check permission fb-books/ ,fb-images/ folders and set to “777

I presuming its some kind of server side folder permissions, did you find a solution?

It seems the person in the call centre gave me duff instructions to get my shared hosting package up to php5. Managed to sort it now and the plugin activates fine, so php4 was the issue. Only problem now is when I call it on a page it doesnt appear. I’ve firebugged it and its calling the piecemaker the code is there, but not displaying and the div is kind of hanging off the page.

It could be my custom template, so I’m going to try and fresh install and see what happens.

@cwgservices I’ve had a similar problem to you. Piecemaker just wont install through the admin backend. I used to get an error when extracting the zip file locally and I’ve just downloaded the zip again and this time a unexpected error 0x80004005 in a swf file occurred when I try and extract it.

I’ve been trying to install this plugin for about a week now as the screenshot looks brilliant. I’ve managed to manually install but get an error when activating. I thought it was my installation, but after a lot of playing around, its either the plugin or the way it’s been compressed!

Hi there. I’ve just been on the phone with 1and1 and they said I was running php4. So theyve upgraded me to php5 and it still wont activate, im getting the same error. Shame because it looks like a really nice plugin!

Thank you sir, you are a life saver! I think installing a theme with the same styles nackered my installation, as I couldn’t get anything to work. So I reinstalled wordpress and copied the renamed theme across and all is good!
