In reply to: widgets disappear when static post home page is enabledOh! Perhaps. It’s just he used to have a Q&A for the free themes and then he took it all down — I think there were too many questions! Even if he couldn’t respond, there was info in there that I found sometimes helped (things he’d answered to others who had the same question I had). This is a new theme so that’s a whole other story but I think supporting both – free / non-free – ends up being important. Obviously some theme designers do that more than others.

In reply to: widgets disappear when static post home page is enabledAh… thank you for that research. Interesting your thought on the problem’s origin. I suppose I could send him an email. Thank you for the Whois data!
I wrote in on the Facebook page under that theme (just yesterday or the day prior) with no response. I’ve had issues with other themes of his and I do really like his themes but if you hit a glitch it’s hard to get support.
Thanks —
Cathryn.

In reply to: widgets disappear when static post home page is enabledHi, thank you Swanson Photos. I have seen that page and tried to find the answer there. The theme creator used to have a Q&A section along with each theme but he removed it and there is nowhere to get questions answered now. That’s why I turned here – there are some ‘bugs’ that go outside of the standard tutorial on the ThemeZee themes and I thought WP.org folks might know why this would happen and be able to help me resolve it. The tutorial goes through very basic things. I have the widgets set up and it does not address anything more in-depth.
Thanks.
Cathryn.

In reply to: broken themeso (i’m a newbie) should I just reinstall everything ? It’s hard to find these specific items. Is it just info from these particular themes or all wp theme info?
Thanks.
I basically have two separate issues here. But I would like to get the domain mapping off so I can work on the ‘real’ site.
I realized it’s a problem on wp.com/domain mapping end so I wrote in to WP.com support and also the help forums. I don’t know how to shut it off. You can ‘delete’ the direct URL as an option on the wp.com dashboard — the wp.com address and URL are the two options; it was originally pointing to bgirlguide.com; now it’s pointing to the wp.com site which I thought would remedy it but did not. The domain mapping is still in effect. Someone at WP.com said not to delete the direct url as an option. I’m not certain that advice is correct.
I did install another theme tho’ via the wp.org dashboard although the theme files are also residing in htdocs – I will try to move them.
Thanks for the help.
I can move it via the backbone of the site in the ftp?
Secondly, I’m not sure why the domain mapping isn’t off – I switched the settings via wp.com and that should not still be in effect. Those settings are still showing up and that theme is registered in the Dashboard of the wp.org site.
Thank you.
a ha! no I just put it in htdocs (I’m new at this). Can I reupload into the right folder or does it need to be deleted and then reinstalled?
thanks for your help.
my second question is do I have to ftp the theme info via filezilla or just upload within the dashboard (which is what I just did)?
Thanks.

In reply to: Twitter time stamp off in style sheet codehi esmi, thanks.
This is what is there:
<?php if ( function_exists('register_sidebar') ) register_sidebars(2, array( 'before_widget' => ' <ul>', 'after_widget' => '</ul> ', 'before_title' => '<h2>', 'after_title' => '</h2>', )); ?>

In reply to: [WordPress.com Stats] [Plugin: WordPress.com Stats] zero viewsI had the same issue. I was told previously there are other plug ins that can do the same thing, track stats. (p.s. make sure tho’ that you inserted the new code *above* or before the code.)

In reply to: [WordPress.com Stats] [Plugin: WordPress.com Stats] zero viewsHi, I’m having the same issue. I thought the problem was the ‘call to’ code so I added it in and still showing zero stats. I set up Google Analytics awhile back but I’d prefer to have the WP stats working on my dashboard.
James – are you saying that if the body tag is in another place, that might be causing the trouble (if code is not in each spot)?
Not sure what else could be the problem…
thanks!
