Thanks for your help @varunmatomo ! As it was a copy of our production website, the matomo.js and matomo.php were requesting on the prod URL.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Matomo, this time I have the right URL sent.

I re-activated every plugins one by one and found the one creating the problem when archiving the reports: it’s the Redirection plugin. I deactivated it on production website and was able to generate reports!

Alas it’s a plugin we need, any chance you could do some tests on your side or offer some advice to fix the conflict? Maybe I needs to adjust some settings?

Thanks for your participation. On a copy of our website, I deactivated all plugins except of course Matomo Analytics.

It says that monitoring is activated. But when I visit the website from a different IP address I don’t see any activity in real time. I clicked on every pages, still nothing. Do I need to wait before seeing the first recording of activities? If so how long? (Then I’ll be able to test the reports generation).

The memory_limit in the php.ini was increased to 256M but we still have the “Got invalid response…” error saying that generally the solution is to increase the memory_limit

Do you have an idea on what value we should set?

Just to give some information on our progress, thought maybe it could help others.

The max_allowed_packet size was changed from 16MB to 64MB. The warning is not there anymore but it didn’t fix the empty reports problem.

The memory_limit is still there even after increase (but we’re not sure the change was taking into account). Still investigating…

Then I’ll try to deactivate each plugin.

Thanks a lot for your fast answer. Good thinking, the selected post was indeed with a newer date even if it was older, can’t you use the post date instead of a separate date? Just a thought.

Also I couldn’t update it right away because the date-picker shows up behind the map, I could only see the header. So I deleted the location and added it again. It’s fixed.

Matomo Archive Warnings: 'Got invalid response from API request: ?module=API&method=CoreAdminHome.archiveReports&idSite=1&period=day&date=2022-10-11&format=json&trigger=archivephp. The response was empty. This usually means a server error. A solution to this error is generally to increase the value of \'memory_limit\' in your php.ini file. For more information and the error message please check in your PHP CLI error log file. As this core:archive command triggers PHP processes over the CLI, you can find where PHP CLI logs are stored by running this command: php -i | grep error_log'
'Error unserializing the following response from ?module=API&method=CoreAdminHome.archiveReports&idSite=1&period=day&date=2022-10-11&format=json&trigger=archivephp: \'\''

And as I checked again the first Matomo reports I see also this line :
Warning Maximum packet size: warning (It is important to configure a 'max_allowed_packet' size in your MySQL database of at least 64MB. 16MB configured at the moment.)

I don’t know if it’s talking about the same thing. I reckon I’ll have to ask the person whose taking care of the server and the database to update the php.ini file and wherever the max_allowed_packet value is.

I don’t use the WP-Rocket plugin. I checked the FAQ and the only mention about archiving I find is:
– the point about the Cron, but if I understand correctly, I don’t need to do anything as it should be on by default like said here: https://matomo.org/faq/on-premise/how-to-set-up-auto-archiving-of-your-reports/
– the second point says “but maybe there is a problem with reports archiving”, OK but what can I do about it?

I’ll try to see if I can have info on the webserver error logs as said in another point.

Same here and I’d rather not mess with the functions.php file ??

Will be nice to have an official fix. For now I just updated the number of posts displayed by page so I don’t have pagination, but it can’t be a permanent solution.

If I understand well, you chose the upload repo to store the attachment and activate GDPR?

Mmh I’m not sure I want the attachments to be saved in a not secured repo.
Right now I don’t have GDPR active, we delete the attachment manually once downloaded.

The attachment is there almost all the time, the error happens only on some applications.

Really hope it will be officially fixed in the plugin!

I don’t know if an update fixed this error or if it was an error from Google but it seems to be gone. Fingers crossed! ^^
