Ah yes…seems I was missing that subtle point.

FYI, I noticed the plugin was updated today (7 Dec.) to 3.4.1 check to see if it resolved the issue.

@anastas10s unfortunately (?) I had already made the required server changes prior to receiving this link, so the plugin is working again for me – but clearly a huge issue that is not currently “user repairable”, outside of downgrading the plugin.

Thanks for reaching out to us and for checking your server to resolve the issue with OPcache and Square. Could you please roll back to using Square 3.3.0 https://d.pr/f/rqJl4q and see if this still occurs? At the moment, we’re looking into a few reports of this issue coming in. It may be more of a false positive, as in Square still works, but this message is still shown.

While that’s not confirmed just yet, let me know if going back to version 3.3.0 helps remove that error message. It’d likely be worth testing a product sync or test payment as well if that helps quell any worry during this busy time of the year.

@r4bb1t it does seem that these modules (both opcache AND opcache.save_comments) need to be installed/enabled for it to work again.

While some of the problem is with WC suddenly making a radical change in the plugin, it seems Square is at fault for making a major change in how the plugin interacts with their API…and _may_ have a glitch or two that created this issue.

Square for WooCommerce v3.0 and newer uses the official Square SDK for API communication with the Square platform. Some API responses are cached to improve performance.

Same issue here – no warning. Only one site had it in autoupdate, but a MAJOR issue. Despite verifying that theopcache function was enabled, restarting apache & NGINX, reinstall the plugin…still broken.

I think I sorted it out…seems a setting in “WP Optimize” was mis-activated (under the Minify settings, “merge js”). It all seems to be working now!

That isn’t specifically something I added, probably related to “Open External Links in a New Window” which was active before when things were working. I removed it just in case, problem still exists.

HOWEVER – I now notice that 2 other functions aren’t working: mobile navigation (‘hamburger’) and the search function (‘ivory search’).
More confused than I was now…

After a bit more fiddling, I may have resolved it.

Steps:
Disabled “Disable Parent Menu Link”
Was able to enable Square
Re-enabled “Disable Parent Menu Link”, broke some layout settings(?)
On a whim, disabled “ShortPixel Adaptive Images” and everything seems OK again! (odd though, as I use this other places with the same settings and no problems)

At least the main problem is solved!

I tried the troubleshooting with a default theme and only WC and the WC Square plugin active – still a problem.

To be fair, a previous theme I was using had a specific option to switch the option off, figured it was universal. LOL

I may not have noticed previously as I was working with Kadence on sites with a white content background.

It’s certainly not a big issue – and the theme is great, keep up the good work!

It disables some CSS, but not the background colour (though it makes it a different shade?!?)

It’s not a setting as far as I’m aware – which is what’s confusing! Perhaps I’m mis-remembering, but I didn’t think Kadence showed the full page styling (ie. the content background colour) in the edit screen the first several times I used it. It only happens in the block editor (not the “old” editor), but I don’t recall it showing this way prior to mentioning it here.
(previous themes I’ve used didn’t or had an option to switch it on/off).

For example, in the screenshots, they would normally have a neutral/white background & black text when editing. Even pages with a dark background and light text showed with a white b.g. & black text for editing purposes.
