In reply to: New site, no css and Internal server error on linksOK, I thought I read on one of the docs that the .htaccess that was in the root directory would affect all directories below (such as wp in its own directory). But its definitely good to know for future installs, updates ect. that it has to be in the WP directory.
My host does allow ftp. I use CODA and discovered I can turn on hidden files on that as well.
Thanks again!

In reply to: New site, no css and Internal server error on linksYep did that too, but finally figured out what was going on.
My hosting does not have a visible .htaccess file but they have an edit .htaccess via the control panel. I configured the .htaccess through the control panel and I assumed its at the top level directory and from what I gathered affected everything below.
As we know It wasnt working so I created a brand new .htaccess inside the top WP directory (zen) with the configuration from the multisite setup. (maybe this is in the documentation but I missed it if so)
And that did the trick! Thanks for your follow up hopefully this will help someone else!
solved.

In reply to: New site, no css and Internal server error on linksThanks for that, sure does.
For example my main site is https://www.zenstream.info/zen/
(zen being the wordpress site)
I create a new site with a URL of https://www.zenstream.info/zen/test1/
(test1 being the secondary wp site)but if you go to that site you will see the problem as described in the previous post with broken css, images and other internal server error?
Thanks

In reply to: Lost my Network and Subdomains AgainThanks for following up Ipstenu.
I’ve had problems right from the beginning with installing this on GoDaddy to problems almost every time I updated. I have another WP installed with another host and have never had any problems at all.I’ve come to the determination that GoDaddy is very WP unfriendly and after getting no help at all from their support team with the standard “we dont offer support for third party apps”, I decided to pull the plug on them and have re-installed with a new host (netfirms).
I installed and configured the WP and Network in about 15 minutes and is working fine.
Thanks for any and all help!

In reply to: Lost my Network and Subdomains Againhmmm contacted godaddy and they say the htaccess should be in the root of the wordpress folder but nothing there?
seems to be a lot of people who are having this problem are on GoDaddy, me too. Removing the plugins and even renaming the folder did not work for me. Contacted Godaddy they say everthings working fine on their end and got the standard sorry but they do not support third party apps (WP). thank you godaddy!

In reply to: Lost my Network and Subdomains Againok things keep changing faster than I can write in this forum so sorry about all the diatribe.
Now I’m getting the messageFatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 35 bytes) in /home/content/c/a/m/camster77/html/zenpress/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1104
– I see nothing in or around that line where I can change the bytesI did a search on the forum and found these suggestions
“1. Try adding this line to your wp-config.php file:
define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’64M’);”
-changed it but didnt help“2. If you have access to your PHP.ini file, change the line in PHP.ini
If your line shows 32M try 64M:
memory_limit = 64M ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (64MB)”
-Theres no line in there similiar to change?-3. If you don’t have access to PHP.ini try adding this to an .htaccess file:
php_value memory_limit 64MI dont believe my host allows me acces to this file
-4. i also read deleting plugins therefor used up memory that would help
-removed my plugins but that never helped either.I am stumped???
Thanks

In reply to: Lost my Network and Subdomains AgainHelp! This just gets worse as i go. I checked my my subsite I mentioned above
https://mapart.zenstream.net/
and it was working.
– So I tried adding a few more sites and one worked the others the same ol 403 error
– I thought maybe my “Default Blog” and “Template Plugins” were conflicting so I turned them off
Now I cant do anything because all I get is a blank page…even on my main WP site: https://zenstream.net/zenpress/
Do you think this is a hosting issue???
I have had nothing but problems since i installed this on godaddy.
I really dont want to rebuild the whole thing theres a lot of work into it but maybe i have to with a different host? Any ideas to save my site would be great!Forum: Networking WordPress

In reply to: Super Admin Gone – 403 error on new sitesOk so no more super admin. I thought the network Admin is new. Its kinda thrown some things off like when I Network enable plugins they dissappear in the main site, I’m not sure if thats related to this problem or something completely different?
Sorry but I dont know what you mean by multisite stuff in the config file?
Would you be able elaborate or point me to some documentation that describes how it should be configured?
Thanks Andrea
