In reply to: [Wp Subcribe Author] Subscribe button on Author Archive page? It’s not answered in the FAQ.
I dont want the pop out on the posts. I want a “Subscribe to Author” button on the top of the author’s archive page.
So you have your post, user clicks on the Authors name is taken to the archive page with all of the authors posts on it, and at the top of that archive page, is a button to subscribe.

In reply to: Upgrading to 2.8 killed all my pages, 404 error^^ When I do this I get this message:
If your .htaccess file were writable, we could do this automatically, but it isn’t so these are the mod_rewrite rules you should have in your .htaccess file. Click in the field and press CTRL + a to select all.
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /index.php [L] </IfModule>
That IS all that is my htaccess file anyway.

In reply to: Upgrading to 2.8 killed all my pages, 404 error^^ Thanks for checking it out.
Ok, so we know that using /%catagory%/ first in the permalink structure causes the problem. So how do we fix whatever it conflicts with? Other than changing the permalink structure.

In reply to: /page/2/ = Page Not FoundPlease, inform me what is a “standard” unix install? There are a lot of different versions out there with different configurations and it seems that wordpress doesnt like them all. But you cant suggest that is the servers fault. WordPress should be designed to work on a wide range of servers.
Regardless, let’s work out together, for my benefit and the benefit of others, what exactly the solution is….

In reply to: Upgrading to 2.8 killed all my pages, 404 errorSwitching to Month and Name fixes the problem. But in my case this is not something I can do. I need it to be /%category%/%postname%/ for my google standings as this is what I was running before I moved over to WordPress. Considering there is a screenshot of /%category%/%postname%/ on the documentation website, I would have thought it was pretty standard.
But now we know the problem so we are one step closer to finding a solution ??
I did a little testing.
/%year%/%monthnum%/%category%/%postname%/That works.
This doesnt:
/%postname%/So it appears that it is not the fact that it has catagory in front of it, but that it DOESNT have the date in front of it.
Any solution?
At this point, the way my site is indexed, I cant change link structures. But like I said, I expected /%category%/%postname%/ to work seeing as there is even a screenshot of it on the website.

In reply to: /page/2/ = Page Not FoundWith all due respect, my server is a normal unix default secure configuration. It is a dedicated server I pay $175 for a month. So the server is not the problem, something the software is doing is.
