sorry forgot to mark solved
Wow – really sorry – you’ve been pointing at whether its’ hierarchical or non hierarchical all along and I kept missing it … I had created these as incorrectly as non-hierarchical so I was getting the expected behavior it’s just the first time I’ve developed a site with the new Gutenberg is what threw me I think.
Hi Gabriel
Yes when the user has typed ( min 2 characters) it does display some … but then it filters the list based on those characters so there’s never a place to see the whole list like there used to be in WCK before Gutenberg … and actually since Gutenberg the regular WordPress posts DO allow you to see the full list in this way; it’s the exact same way it used to be before Gutenberg ( a checkbox list ) … so I thought It would be like that with WCK too.
Bob
Yes actually you’re right and I can see the existing terms now – silly mistake on my part, sorry … but I still cant see how to pick from the existing terms anywhere, apologies if I’m missing something obvious

In reply to: [Classic Editor] Running this on production sitesDid I not read somewhere in the documentation or get a warning or something ( can’t remember right now ) about not ruining this plugin on a production site?
would there be a hook or pluggable function or soemthing like that, that I could use to customise it or would I have to do extensive work?

thanks for that it was helpful but still I’d want to let the poster have access to a dashboard of some kind so they could see their historical postings etc. Maybe that’s the question I should have asked in the first place – if a third party is allowed to post how can the amend or administer their post without seeing all other 3rd party postings?

In reply to: [InfiniteWP Client] panel reporting 1.8.2 available but I can’t updateThanks – it would be great to see this info in the knowledgebse unless I missed it
hmm – well when I installed the plugin it gave me nowhere to edit anything – I searched for ages – under what menu is the editor meant to be located?
Just volunteering my opinion here:
“Normally you will find the Google Analytics tracking code here, but the webmaster disabled your user group.”
this appears as something has malfunctioned, not that the code is disabled intentionally for better reporting
what about something more like
“Normally you will find the Google Analytics tracking code here, but your user group is excluded from the results to give more accurate reporting.”
– ok cool – never really need to do any of that myself but it all makes sense – prob better practice – thanks
I’ll put that in – thanks
why the subdomain rather than the directory?
Yea that worked perfectly – thanks. I’ll probably address the issue on the site too TBH because I don’t know that it’s very good to have the pages in non-www and the links in www like the way I discovered I actually have it.
Thanks for your help.
Your comment got me thinking and I noticed a few things …
I’m starting to wonder whether it’s more of a conflict between the way the site was originally built and the way we’re doing the redevelopment.
We’re using https://domain.com for the redevelopment ( Settings>General>URLs ) but all the links in the content which we’ve imported in – as we weren’t able to do a direct clone of the site – are based on the old WWW structure.
WP has a redirect built in based so all this is probably confusing to your plugin or something.
At this point I’m thinking it might cause other problems too so I think I’ll just use Velvet Blues to rename everything to non wwww and cover any SEO fallout in my 301 file.
Anyway I’m not sure what you think – whether you think it’s an issue with your plugin or some weirdness caused by what I’ve described above.
