In reply to: [Maker] New version of Maker broke home layoutYes, that did the trick, thanks!
Sorry, I ignored that part of the note because I didn’t think it was relevant to me.Hello?
After a bit of mucking about with Yoast SEO settings, I discovered that the title template was the cause of the error.
My post titles include the post category separated by bars (|). If I remove this, the error message goes away. My categories are not long, and the total length of the titles is not long, so maybe there’s an error in the calculation?
What is too long? How many characters exactly?
(BTW, ‘bog-standard’ is an English phrase, which means very common, or default)
I disabled all plugins, except Yoast SEO, and I switched to plain Twenty Twelve without any child theme, and I still had the error message on all posts including a blank new one. It doesn’t seem to affect Pages. So, my guess is it’s something to do with bog-standard WordPress Settings.
Unfortunately, switching everything off messed up my site layout, and I’ve spent the last 20 minutes trying to fix it, otherwise I would have reported back sooner ??I’ve been using Yoast SEO and Twenty Twelve (child) for a long time, and I didn’t always have this error message. It seems to have started a few months ago, but I couldn’t say when exactly. Sorry.
I can try turning off other plugins tomorrow and report back here. But I’m off to bed now.Just tried that on WP Twenty Twelve theme. Didn’t make any difference to the error message.
I already tried and eliminated Sell Media.
Thanks for your time. I’ve set up a shop with Simple Paypal Shopping Cart, but I can only sell one product type per button. So a gallery of 40 popular images will need at least 200 shortcodes, and that’s before I’ve even started on the blog.
Back to the drawing board.
Thanks. I’d already looked at that page. It’s difficult to say at the moment, as I’ve never used EDD.
I’ll give an example:
Let’s say I have a photo of a unicycling hippo.
It’s a popular image, so it’s in the blog AND in a gallery of popular photos.
By each gallery photo, there’s a BUY NOW button, together with a drop-down selection box.
In the selection, you can choose: postcard, greeting card, small print, medium print and large print.
Each choice has a set price, e.g. £1 for a postcard, £10 for a medium print.
Postcards are cheaper to ship than large prints. An added bonus is the ability to add a similar buy now button automatically to every blog image.
An added bonus is the ability to provide the image as a licensed digital download, but most will not have the high-res source file available to begin with. I could upload these for the gallery, but I suspect that the blog would be the best source of stock images.
I was hoping to avoid spending another day getting to know an ecommerce package only to find out it’s unsuitable, and I don’t want to spend a bunch of cash if it’s not going to get used.
I guess I’m just going to have to install EDD to get a better feel for how it works, and then see if Simple Shipping will close the deal. I hope so, because I’ve heard good things about both EDD and WooCommerce, and EDD looks more suited to my requirements.
I’m getting this too. Page title is definitely not too long.
Running Yoast SEO 2.2.1 on WP 4.2.2 with Twenty Twelve and child theme. No other plugins touch the page title. Never used to have this problem.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [cformsII] User Verification Q & A does not workI was logged-in but it wasn’t disabled. I’d tried a different browser too (not logged in).
I’ve just changed from Image verification back to the Q&A, and it works now. Very odd.

In reply to: [cformsII] User Verification Q & A does not workOnly just spotted the lack of a Q&A field in the contact form. Is this the same bug?

In reply to: [Sell Media] Struggling with installationHi, Zane.
The original question is an old post now. There was no need to reply at this stage really, as the resizing thing has since been addressed in updates, and the login form feature has been added. However, I am interested to hear that you recommend using a separate plugin. Is there one in particular that you suggest?

In reply to: [Sell Media] What are the sizes for?Zane,
I can’t think of any to be honest, and I don’t know if this is supported in ImageMagick or GD2 off the top of my head, I was thinking out loud.
Certainly, if colour space conversion is too difficult, then you shouldn’t be wasting your time with it. BUT, if an original is tagged with a colour space, the tag should not be stripped. That’s just wrong.

In reply to: [Sell Media] What are the sizes for?Jamie, publishers often deal with AdobeRGB images, so anyone supplying AdobeRGB originals will face this problem. Untagged versions will be interpreted as sRGB, and will appear washed out.
Ideally, the plug-in should provide an option to do a colour space conversion. I’m not holding my breath.
Handoko, I agree that stripping EXIF is not necessarily a bad thing. You must agree though that removing an ICC profile tag is pretty bad, and most would argue that stripping IPTC metadata is not to be encouraged in the current climate.
I have also looked at EDD, and I agree that’s it’s a much more mature plugin. There is no resizing facility, if I remember correctly, and there were other suitability problems too, but I can’t remember them now.
I may have another look at EDD, as I am finding it very frustrating working with the developers of Sell Media, which still seems a long way off being fit for purpose.

In reply to: [Sell Media] What are the sizes for?Handoko, Image sizes have been fixed, but the plugin is stripping all metadata from the files, which means, IPTC/Copyright, EXIF and ICC profile information is being stripped from resized images.
