Thank you for reaching out to us.
Are you looking for a way to allow only authorized users to view the protected post when they visit your “blog” page?
We tried accessing your blog page to take a look, but it showed “Page Not Found.” Could you please double-check and confirm?

Glad to hear you were able to get everything working and that you’re enjoying the new features in 2.8.8! Clearing the browser history/cache/cookies was a great troubleshooting step.

Hi @mrpchead,
Is the email [email protected] yours? If so, we have provided the previous version via your email.
Could you help check if it works, please?

Hello @mrpchead,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
This is a new feature of our plugin designed to prevent clients from opening developer tools to retrieve the URL or download the file in this way.
?
You can turn it off by disabling the “Disable Copy and Right Click” option in the Settings. If the warning shows without the users doing anything, then please downgrade to the previous version or you can reach out to us via the Contact Form.

In reply to: [Prevent Direct Access - Protect WordPress Files] not working here :(Hi @hmich ,
Yes, our PDA plugin can protect all files uploaded through the Media Library or via Media, Pages, or Posts, as those files are stored in/under the uploads folder. However, it can’t protect the entire uploads folder itself.
While this may sound similar, there is a key difference (just a different method). This is because other plugins may require access to the uploads folder, and restricting it could cause conflicts or even bring the site down.
If you’ve protected your files with our plugin and they’re still accessible to everyone, it could be a misconfiguration somewhere. We have many customers using it without any issues, and we’d be happy to help you resolve this quickly if you contact us and let us help you.
Looking forward to your reply.

In reply to: [Prevent Direct Access - Protect WordPress Files] not working here :(Hi @hmich,
Thank you for your feedback, and sorry for any inconvenience our plugin may have caused.
To clarify, our plugin does not protect files in the uploads folder. Instead, protected files are moved to the
_pda
folder, and our plugin ensures their security there.Additionally, our plugin works properly without any extra configuration if you are using an Apache server. However, if you’re using an Nginx server, you will need to ask your hosting provider to implement our rewrite rule.
You can also contact us via our Contact Form, and we’ll be happy to assist you in getting it set up quickly.
Looking forward to your response.
Hi @mkdes ,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
If that’s the case, the image may have been embedded in your page/post before you protected it, which means the URL in the page/post wasn’t updated.
Could you try re-embedding the image and check if it works, please?
Would be great if you can provide sample page for us to take a look.
Awaiting your reply.
Hello @mkdes,
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We have thoroughly tested the PDA Gold plugin with the Media Library Folders plugin on our end, but we were unable to reproduce the issue you described. The protection and unprotection process appears to be working fine, and files are being moved back to their original directories without any issues.
It sounds like there may be a conflict between the two plugins. We recommend checking for any updates for the Media Library Folders plugin, as compatibility improvements are often included in new versions.
If the issue persists, we suggest temporarily disabling the Media Library Folders plugin to see if the problem is resolved. This will help determine if the conflict is specific to the interaction between these two plugins.
Please let us know if you need any further assistance or if you’d like us to explore other troubleshooting steps.
Hello @mkdes,
Thank you for confirming.
We’ll investigate this further. In the meantime, could you try the following?
- Manually Protect the Original File – If you select and protect
kadry_2021.jpg
separately in the Media Library, does it move to/uploads/_pda/
? - Check File Accessibility – Do all other generated sizes (e.g.,
1024x1024.jpg
,300x300.jpg
,-scaled.jpg
) remain protected, or are any still accessible via direct URL? - Disable
big_image_size_threshold
Temporarily – If you disable this feature, does PDA Gold move all files correctly?
To further assist you, please reach out to us via our Contact Form with details about your setup. This will help us investigate and provide a solution faster.
Hello @mkdes,
Thank you for bringing this up!
To better understand the issue, could you confirm:
- After protecting the file, is the original image (
kadry_2021.jpg
) still accessible via its direct URL? - Does this happen with all large images or only specific ones?
We’ll investigate this behavior to see if adjustments are needed. As a workaround, you might try manually protecting the original file separately.
Let us know if you notice anything else!

In reply to: [PPWP - Password Protect Pages] How does the licensing working?Hello @simonvetterli,
Thank you for reaching out!

Hello @rjp92
Thank you for your feedback!
PDA Lite is not designed to work on WordPress multisite networks due to the platform’s complex structure and the way media files are managed across different subsites. We appreciate your understanding and will pass your input along to our team for future improvements.
Let us know if you have additional questions or need further assistance!Hello @rjp92,
Thank you for confirming! While the plugin may appear to work on multisite, the features are only officially supported in the Gold version. I understand your frustration, and I’ll pass your feedback regarding clearer messaging on our site and plugin page to the team for consideration.
The Lite version is designed for single-site use and offers essential file protection features at no cost. However, the Gold version includes advanced features and multisite support, which is why it’s priced accordingly. If you’d like, I’d be happy to discuss your specific needs and explore potential alternatives within our offerings.
Let us know if you have additional questions or need further assistance!
Hello @rjp92,
Thank you for the update! To protect your files, please make sure you’re using the list view in the media library. First you need to select the “List view” in the top left, then click on “Configure file protection” for the file you want to protect. Now click on “Protect this file”.
Your file should now be protected.
Could you also confirm if your website is a multisite setup? The free version of the plugin supports single-site installations only. If you’re using a multisite network, you’ll need the Gold version to ensure compatibility.
Let me know if you have any other questions or if there’s anything else I can assist with!
Hello @rjp92 ,
Thank you for your response! To clarify:
- You can definitely protect your files using the free (Lite) version of the plugin, which includes several useful features.
- The “Configure File Protection” option is available in the list view of your media library, not in the grid view. To manage file protection more easily, please switch to the list view.
- If the “Protecting” status keeps showing, ensure that the file exists in your media library and try deactivating other plugins one by one, as outlined in our troubleshooting guide: Prevent Direct Access Lite Documentation. Link: https://preventdirectaccess.com/docs/prevent-direct-access-lite/
Let us know if you have any other questions—we’re happy to help!
