Hi, I encountered this issue today when I got this email from Wordfence outlining these “new issues” on my website. The website for all intents and purposes has been dormant for a couple of years as I have never found time to complete it:

* Unknown file in WordPress core: wp-includes/SimplePie/XML/f0084421_noversion.php

* Unknown file in WordPress core: wp-includes/date_ver1.php

* Unknown file in WordPress core: wp-includes/js/imgareaselect/border-anim-v_indesit.php

Should I be concerned? Any help that can be provided is much appreciated! Thanks.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. After a mad scramble on Father’s Day, I was able to source out the FAQ on the BackupWordpress support page and reinstalled the wp-config.php file from a backup that I accessed through FTP. All seems to be back to normal.

I used Wordfence to delete the other two malicious code files that had been inserted. Question is, if the wp-config.php file is corrupted again in the future, how to replace? Is there an option besides deleting and reuploading?

Thanks for the response. As it turns out, there was an issue with the theme’s slider – it also stopped – for which the fix is an update to the theme. Hopefully that will resolve the scrolling problem.

Hi, I seem to be experiencing some issues, not sure whether they are related to the recent WP 3.8.1 update, which was automatically installed by my host.

The slideshow quit working – but shows a static image – in Safari and Firefox (OSX) but is still working in Chrome and in iOS on my iPad. I checked the “Avoid content filter” to “No” as you suggest above, which didn’t seem to do anything.

The images also can’t be advanced manually by using the navigation arrows.
