In reply to: Posts are INVISIBLEYes, I want to keep the blog on. The WP section of No Bitchin’ Just Fishin’ site was all about the blog for seo. I have discovered some remarkable plugins for seo that are quite powerful. SEO is greatly affected by blogs and other factors, moderated by the plugin advisories. It’s beautiful. Authorship shows up immediately on Hummingbird, as does the newest microdata entries. Jump through the hoops and you get some real results.
Losers still spamming are just that now, with the new Hummingbird algorithms. I’ve been manually reporting it. In fact, the use of spam tactics is detrimental to the site that still practices that useless game. Losers. I looked into spam moderation plugins but they wanted an api key, which stymied me. I loathe acronyms without explanations- especially those that ask for a credit card and don’t have an explanation of the meanings of api keys.
The xixipostinpost documentation is about as strange as some of the WP codex so I haven’t taken the time to unravel those mysteries just yet. English language translation lost something. I must try to make the page take the posts somehow…not sure how though just yet. Appreciate the helpful plugin links. Thanks a bunch.
I do have a chiropractor on board that needs a blog. Thanks. Good idea.

In reply to: Posts are INVISIBLEWhat led me to believe I could manipulate WP was that I’d read articles that you could make WP BEHAVE like a website, instead of a blog. Thank you for the plugin recommendation. I’ll give that a try for the control issue. I’ve seen a lot of posts on this subject but there’s never been any clear answers.. This looks promising. Thanks again…I’ll be back later to post results…hopefully favorable.

In reply to: Posts are INVISIBLECatch = container. The post you had found was not even showing up last night…anywhere. Now the desired post appears on it’s own- out of context from the SPECIALS page I wanted it to be in. The post doesn’t appear on any page at all, it’s just there. I don’t get it.
I did not design the template, since I don’t really understand fully how the mechanics of the hierarchy should interact with a category and page (difficult to understand and deploy in WP- because it doesn’t work for me). However, I will likely have to learn how to build a page container, if it’s possible…To force the items into the actual page at this point, looks like I would have to code them directly into the page, which defeats the purpose of the SPECIALS as a temporary item sale.

In reply to: Posts into specific PagesI’d need to learn php and write my own code? Not today. Web development wasn’t what I was looking for as an answer to a simple notion of post controls. I search for the key to turn within existing plugins and or the interface of existing WP structures to enable control. The reason I got into WP was so I wouldn’t have to master a dynamic code like php. I understand many code languages but in this case php is my nightmare. Ease of use would be my goal in the use of all things WP. Maybe I’m in the wrong forum. Maybe I should go back to making my sites instead of looking for a prefabricated WP solution. Something so simple shouldn’t be so difficult to enable, should it?

In reply to: Six Contact Form FAILS in Six DaysContact Forms by Cimatti with WP-mail-SMPT combo that finally worked after a week of troubleshooting. WHEW

In reply to: Six Contact Form FAILS in Six DaysNO SALE. Fail again. Test worked from the SMTP but failed from the actual form. DAMMIT. I am about to give up on this insanity. WP and GD are obscenely and hopelessly incompatible. I’ll use my own coding inside of regular posts. It’s just not worth all the TIME.

In reply to: Six Contact Form FAILS in Six Dayscubecolor, thanks for your input. Latest and greatest SMTP. Problem solved but with twists…
I decided to download WP-mail-SMTP plugin and leave the BestWebSoft Contact form deployed. At first I got authentication errors. Good to have a debugger in that BWS plugin! When I saw authentication errors might have been GoDaddy’s fault, I decided to call and investigate…Had to wait 30 minutes for them to return my call. At first it was the blame game but when I finally got somewhere is when I logged out of the hosted email account and tried to log back in with the exact same credentials and could not get in! The password is critical in the workings of SMTP. I closed Chrome. I opened FireFox and logged into GD webmail with the same credentials as before- successfully. Then I changed the password to the exact same password that the client had created. I waited for the browser to refresh the change. The BestWebSoft contact TEST authentication then worked! Login had somehow been corrupted with the original password in GD… Bugs! So if anyone else has problems with form mail in a new GoDaddy hosted site; I recommend that you first-
change your password
. Evidence points to the server’s logins being error prone…

In reply to: [Contact Form 7] SEND TO?That’s all folks. This thing doesn’t work. Taking it down. Moving on to one that is easier and works. No help here.

In reply to: [Contact Form 7] SEND TO?Not here to argue. Code isn’t my thing, though I’ve designed websites for 13 years and can do it. PHP is definitely not on my list of skillsets but it seems that you must know it to use this particular form. Yesterday I tried four different form plugins and couldn’t get any of them to work. I’ve checked the GoDaddy email inbox and nothing ever comes in. I test from my gmail to the website’s address and it works. The server is setup correctly.
The settings in 7 are code oriented and very confusing. The first box is entitled form and presents a lot of jibberish that I do not understand how to use- something about generate a tab. Weird. I pressed that button but have no idea what happened. Since I do not understand alien code languages and the interface is designed for aliens, yesterday the entire day was spent with tedious testing and troubleshooting that did NOT WORK!! I’m just not an elite php coder and that is one reason why I chose to learn how to use WP. Out of four WP sites I run, NONE have a contact page…YET.
The scenario is:
“To” is set to [email protected]
“From” is also set to same.
shortcode goes into contact page.
Page opens up nicely.
Form submitted successfully.
NO EMAIL ARRIVAL EVER.
Results are always nil.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Contact Form 7] SEND TO?No I won’t make the form public- it’s lame and doesn’t work.
I’ve been at it all day without success…WP admin credentials are the single minded recipient for the program and all mail goes to me. If I change the email code…it gets lost and nobody gets it. The owner isn’t the admin you see and has a different email address. The plugin code only uses some kind of WP jargon which contains a username encoded in the jibberneese that it uses for the default email recipient. Change that and it screws it up. When I change that default wp address to the site’s dotcom- oblivion…says successful mail but never received. stupid code.

In reply to: Page, Post, where's my copy? Hidden from view on a page…awwwPages, posts, categories are confusing…I’m trying to understand layout processes and get the seo to work. Naming a page Home doesn’t work for seo…the all important reason to use a blog.
Thanks again.

In reply to: Domain Name Shows ErrorI’m done. I had a two hour session with a professional developer- experienced in servers and php. Getting advise is nice- especially remote help on your own computer. WP IS NOT POETRY! WP is a work in progress- not ready for prime time.
Last error? I tried to go to my domain and got a login page that wouldn’t let me in- even with correct passwords- not admin but my main domain name and absolutely no mods had been made to the new upload. We tried everything- changed logins and fixed the localhost- probably only temporarily. Remote domain asked for login -even after numerous mods. After two weeks of extreme frustration and no help from this forum, I have go give up. Enough said I’m out- problem solved. No more WP. Strongly advise against anyone but code junkies trying to DEVELOP WP. It’s broken for public use. BYE. HAVE FUN.
