Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: Permission troubleWell, I found it.
Actually some software by the provider made me THINK that all files are owned by the ftp user. But they weren’T. In those accounts where it worked they are owned by the server user. then it all is OK…Regards,
BennyHi lilap,
meanwhile I follow up with a general problem that involves WP, my hoster, and file permissions. I’m convinced the nextgen problem was there before, but since there is trouble now it doesn’t make sense to check the NG details…
Regards,
BennySorrry, last tip did not help.
Something new coming up now: I now tried to upload additional fotos and suddenly I get “Could not write to file. Please check filesystem permissions.” message.
But there are fotos there I did upload before the last update…
And pretty sure I am the admin of the system.Regards,
BennyHi Cais,
the point is, the import option doesn’t even appear. If I call “add Gallery/Images” the Upload Images section appears but none of the others (like zip or directory that I know from pictures only).
This happens in the dashboard menu as well as when using the menu directly form a page editor.
Using the upload option today even killed my firefox-session. So something seems not to be right here.Thank you for your support, as I did not really expect such a fast reaction, although appreciate it, of course.
Regards,
BennyDid the update, still no success….
Cais,
Thanks for the hint. I’ll try that later as I plan to go live soon and have shifted the update after this.Regards,

In reply to: [Import from Ning] Problem importing ning-discussions.JSONA couple of tips:
-Multisite is not supported. Do the porting in a fresh installation and later try to use wordpress ex- and import.
-check your json discussion files for braces errors. I found that there is one ]-brace too much in the end of the file when I tried to check it with a JSON editor (it could not read the file either but after deleting one of the braces) It usually should be in file end something like …]]) That double one is too much. This brought me at least to the point that categories get imported as group forums – as documented on the plugin.
Hope you will get further…

In reply to: [Import from Ning] Anyone supporting this plugin – help w/ discussionsAgain the bbpress/buddypress forum issue: keep an eye on the supported version numbers. Was very important to me, as it seeems they even dropped of the code in later versions. The plugin says it’s compatible up to 3.5.1 and buddypress 1.7.
This ones look much different than newer releases.
I personally went down to buddypress 1.6.5, as that was the last release that fully supported buddypress forums.
Next I’ll try what Xaviote has done… but that already feels familliar.

In reply to: [Import from Ning] Anyone supporting this plugin – help w/ discussionsMy json file has this at the end “}]}]])
Rockethead: the double ] at the end was my problem and I’m almost sure you can delete it and that should get you a step further.

In reply to: [Import from Ning] Anyone supporting this plugin – help w/ discussionsOK, after some work on those files I got one step further. At least in my case the JSON files for discussions (ning-discussions.json and ning-discussions-local.json) were formatted in the wrong way. Both had one “]” too much at the end of file.
Fortunately you can load those files into any editor, go right to the end of the file and delete the brace. And I said editor! Not Word or any Tex processor…
So the files get loaded and it imports groups at least… unfortunately not yet the content….
I’ll try again.

In reply to: [Import from Ning] Anyone supporting this plugin – help w/ discussionsSame for me. I really tested it through. I learnt to completely understand the buddypress and bbpress relationship. I went back to older versions of buddypress (1.6.5) when the forums still were running- No way to import forums.
