OK, they don’t have ModSecurity or firewall.
I made some progress by adding /wp before /wp-admin in the URL that Sitekite was trying to return to after validating.
However, now Search Funnel and Popularity boxes have “Data error in Search Console” errors.
I think the relevant bit of the error is:
The requested URL
/batch/webmasters/v3
was not found on this server.Does this move us forward?
Their answer:
“mod_security is not installed on the server and there shouldn’t be anything that would block them while they make any changes.
There’s an IP banning service but this would only really block them out if they failed the login attempts on wp-admin too many times.”
They didn’t answer whether anyone else had the plug-in working!
The site health check said one of the directories was not writable, but I guess that’s OK? Presumably a security thing?
I can see if they’ll let me set up another domain and WP instance for testing. Your plug-in was working perfectly on the old host and broke in the move. Would be interesting to see if a new install would work?
Could it be that there are some old/obsolete files lying around that I could delete? Or something in the database?
Would the URL that leads to the 404 be useful?

Thanks. I have asked them and will come back to you.
I have also asked if they know of any other customers who have the plug-in working (I suspect not!).
Still goes to 404 – no error message – only difference is that it’s the default theme.
I’ve removed Site Kit access for the gmail account, but I am not seeing the Reset Site Kit button.
I only see Dashboard under site kit no other sub-menu items.
I’m stuck at point 2. There is no email at the top right to click on!
This is the response from the host:
We place our admin files in a protected /wp directory, this doesn’t affect the vast majority of plugins or third party tools.
I think the issue might be solvable by changing your website URL in sitekit to be [domain name]/wp – it can then connect to the XMLRPC file and should work, are you able to try that?
I’m not convinced, and there is no way I can see to set the site URL, nor would I expect to have to.
https://jmp.sh/chCX9tX is the Google logon screen
https://jmp.sh/Vl0QqRC is the 404 screen I get after clicking [Allow] button.
OK, I have done the form.
Will try to upload some screenshots
Host is 34sp.com
Can I PM the site? Don’t really want to post publicly.
I don’t get a blank page, I get 404 with this link…
Only complaint site health give me is inactive themes

In reply to: How do I add posts to a new page except for the homepage???You can change the page that your posts appear on – rather than the front page they can go somewhere else. Is that all you need to do? If so it is native functionality. Look through the control panel.

In reply to: Downloading Plugin & WP Requests Connection InformationI am having the same problem.
Not sure if my web host has changed something. I have previously installed on the same server without this problem.

In reply to: Connection InformationI don’t think that’s the answer.
I’ve just done a fresh install and I can get into the dashboard but I am asked for connection information if I try to add a plug-in.
Haven’t had that trouble before.
