In reply to: Adding Users not working despite recommendationsHi Joy,
I just installed the WP Downgrade and reverted to 5.6.2 and tried creating a new user. Have not seen anything changing yet. I did this with all of the plugins disabled except the downgrade plugin and the theme set to Twenty-Seven. So far, no new user has shown up in the list yet. I checked the email – I got access and no email has arrived, though the message said it may take a couple of days for the email to arrive.
Don’t know what to do yet.
Thanks for the response.
John

In reply to: What the Heck Happened to Customizing SidebarsThanks for the quick response songdogtech.
I’m perturbed with the fact that this was part of WordPress’s standard installation and now I have to add a plugin to have that same functionality. Not your fault, but I wish I knew what happened.
I’ll try the plugin.

In reply to: Slideshow on posts pageSolved my problem. I’ve been using the plugin, Slideshow v2.2.11 by Stefan Boonstra. In the Slideshow Dashboard module, there’s a setting under Miscellaneous Settings: “Avoid content filter (disable if ‘!slideshow_deploy!’ is shown).” The default is set to ‘Yes,’ but for this purpose it should be set to ‘No.’
Then you put the slideshow into a widget in a top widget area. Slideshow has its own widget, so just select the particular slideshow for that widget, then set the Front page to posts.
It will work.

In reply to: Slideshow on posts pageJust tried another solution – put a posts display shortcode on the home page below the slideshow shortcode. The result was the same. I get the text: “!slideshow_deploy!” where the slide show should appear and the post displays.
There seems to be a compatibility issue with putting slide shows and posts on the same page, although I have seen WordPress sites with slideshows, carousels and posts on the same front page.
Can anyone explain why this is?
Thanks,
BL

In reply to: Custom Item to Vertical Pages Nav MenuBTW, in the Menu screen, it says that “The current theme does not natively support menus, but you can use the “Custom Menu” widget to add any menus you create here to the theme’s sidebar.”
There has to be a way to insert a custom menu item into the vertical menu.

In reply to: Undoing Footer Suppression or Swap in CraftI found a way around it and learned about permanently deleting pages and how it frees up permalink urls. For now it works.

In reply to: Undoing Footer Suppression or Swap in CraftI used a nuclear option. I copied the body html to the page, deleted the old page and created a new one with the same heading and pasted in the body html from the previous page.
The default footer showed. However, the permalink url is off. The original one said https://thewileygroup.com/contact/
The new one reads: http;//thewileygroup.com/contact-4/
so now I’m wondering how to get it back to just https://……/contact/
That may be the subject of another thread.

In reply to: Undoing Footer Suppression or Swap in CraftI didn’t build the site. Craft was already there when I took this job on. You’d think this would be a simple fix, right?

In reply to: AddThis widgetsFound the answer. I had to take out all the line breaks between the button li’s. WordPress doesn’t work like an html editor where you have to explicitly insert break tags to indicate a line break, unless it’s a Heading, Div or table.

In reply to: Want to italicize specific words in Page and Post headingsYes, I meant the page/post titles. I tried, on a lark, putting the tags in and they worked. I also wanted to try it on the menu titles, but that didn’t work.
I’m pretty happy with such a solution. If there is a way to do that in the Menu, that would be awesome.
Thanks.

In reply to: Posts in MenuBless you. That solved my problem. I thought that blogs and pages had to be kept separate. I was unaware that you could link a page to all of the posts and they would populate the page you direct it to.
Thank you very much and have a great Holiday season.
