we’re close – we just need to learn how to remove the pivot point from the map/obj.
https://www.skyladderdrones.com/3d-test/
Can you direct us with how to remove the small square pivot point with Blender?
~ Greg
ok – here is where we are at:
- the zipped export from dronedeploy.com does not load on the page via your plugin
- importing the .OBJ into blender gives us two results: *file doesn’t load or *shadow map loads – it is a black image
- if i import the exported (from dronedeploy.com) .OBJ file into Microsoft 3D Blender, i get an error. There is a default “fix” choice. When I use that, it inverted the tower.
We have yet to get a new project from dronedeploy.com to load on the site.
Here is a link to the original zipped folder: zipped folder from dronedeploy.com
Can you give us instructions for importing into Blender and exporting a working project?
Sincerely,
Greg@maui2wp just checking back in… any chance of hiring you for some time to help us with workflow? We are close – working with quality and load issues (and perhaps the output from dronedeploy.com)
We know that your plugin works.
We are struggling with getting our workflow correct on our end.
Can you be hired to help us get up and running so that we can output our files and load them on the site correctly?
Sincerely,
GregFYI: i just imported the “scene_mesh_decimated_textured.obj” file into blender, exported it out to “hospital.obj” and “hospital.mtl” files.
Still not loading; in this case – I believe my lack of experience with Blender is at hand.
Hello @maui2wp
My apologies for repeating directives you already laid out. Because @svkatz and I were both doing trouble-shooting I was getting confused with what elements were being referenced.
I think sticking to one communication thread and one person trouble-shooting will help us succeed.
Unfortunately – I missed the link download window. Can you repost the zipped folder for download?
The MP4 files show me this will work – we just need to achieve success on our end.
Sincerely,
GregI just received the following error when I attempted to import scene_mesh_decimated_textured.obj into Blender 2.8.0

Hello @maui2wp
Should I change the naming convention of the MTL file?
It currently is named “scene_mesh_decimated_textured.obj.mtl”.
Here is a screenshot of the file structure: screen shot link
With my limited knowledge, it seems the “scene_mesh_decimated_textured.obj” should be pointing to the “scene_mesh_decimated_textured.obj.mtl” file, because that is the naming structure right now.
Also – I did look again this evening at your previous support.
I had to import your file in Blender 2.8.0 and export it back
Do I need to do the same with this current file/instance?
(Your time and support is appreciated.)
Sincerely,
GregHello Maui2wp,
I just received the following from svkatz:
We are generating the 3D model files out of a program called DroneDeploy (https://www.dronedeploy.com) — I hope this is helpful. (I don’t know what underlying technology they are using.) I’m happy to edit it in some other tool if needed.
FYI,
GregHello Maui2wp,
have you checked my previous replies at url-not-formatted-correctly?
Because it seems you missed to follow some previous advises.I did – there were so many different directories and scenarios created I was having trouble figuring out what was being referenced properly. Now I have one directory, one page, one instance to work with and trouble-shoot.
I am going to go over your advice above and will get back with you.
Thank you,

In reply to: [Vrm 360 3D Model Viewer] URL not formatted correctly?Hello maui2wp,
My apologies – I was expecting an email when you responded and I didn’t get one. I am back in helping Steven.
On your test demo that we loaded; I successfully get “demo.obj” to load and “demo1.obj” to load. When I attempted to load “littlecompany.obj” the page crashed. Since “littlecompany.obj” is quite a bit larger – I’m believing that is the reason.
We are back to this page for trouble-shooting: https://www.skyladderdrones.com/3d-test/
Your demo is loading – our 3D map isn’t.
Do you see what is wrong?
(I am going to stick with this page to trouble-shoot)~ Greg

In reply to: [Vrm 360 3D Model Viewer] URL not formatted correctly?Hello Maui2wp,
Never mind – it was a loading issue – it is working.
So… do you have a recommended MAX SIZE for the obj file?
