Hi Pavel,
Well, I think we already discussed that nesting was not exactly what I was looking for. It was you who named the feature just like this:
Variable Product Part and Variable Raw Material
I might be missing something in your logic though. Please let me clarify:
T-Shirt shop
I print t-shirts wheh the orders come in. So what I basically sell on my shop are designs (which are later printed on a T-Shirt.) That means I have a lot of shared stock between my WooCommerce products. Two completely different designs can use the same Product Part (a blank T-Shirt).
Each Product-Design is a Variable Product with attributes for colors and sizes. So my variations look like:
..Lady Awesome Design T-Shirt
….Lady Round Neck S-Grey
….Lady Round Neck M-Grey
….Lady Round Neck S-White
….Lady Round Neck XL-WhiteFor each one of those Variations I’d like to have a Product Part (a T-Shirt).
Now, the current nested logic, as I far as I understand it, makes me have one Product Part for each Size-Color variation possible, which is a little bit of a hassle (not impossible though, so maybe that’s how I’ll have to handle it)
If I could have a Variable Product Part, though, I could add the Size and Colors as attributes for that Variable Product Part, just like the original Variable Product, and make the same exact variations in just ONE place.
I’d then need to be able to add these Product Part Variations to each of my Product Variations.
The advantage as I see it: I can control stock for one type of product from ONE single place.
So, my Variable Product Part would look like this whit it’s variations:
..Lady Round Neck
….S-Grey (Stock= 2)
….M-Grey (Stock= 4)
….S-White (Stock= 1)
….XL-White (Stock= 15)Kind of looks like nesting, but the main difference is that I can request stock from the specific Product Part Variation I need. With nesting, as I far as I recall, I can only add the parent Product Part and that will substract stock from everything bellow it.
Sorry for the long long text, I’m just trying to be as clear as possible.
Hi there!
Any updates on this feature? Will it be released any time soon?
Thanks!
Nice!! Didn’t know that. Thanks for your help!
You’re right. I thought I was going to get the updates through the WP panel and so I incorrectly assumed I alredy had the latest version of Product Levels installed.
That’s awesome! Thanks!
That’s great! Can’t wait for it to be implemented, you guys are doing a great job with this plugin. Can’t wait for the app as well, that will be a game changer!
Yeah, that’d be it. To be able to edit the quantities requires by a product through the entire child tree from within the Variable Product itself. That way, I can make a Product Part hierarchy that looks like this but then just substract the actual required item:
–Basic Short Sleeve Lady Grey: 1
—-Basic Short Sleeve Lady Grey S: 0
—-Basic Short Sleeve Lady Grey M: 1
—-Basic Short Sleeve Lady Grey L: 0
—-Basic Short Sleeve Lady Grey XL: 0Anyway, this is simply a workaround from not having a Variable Product Part yet, so if it’s hard to implement, no worries, I rather wait for the Variable Product Part.
Thanks!
I purchased the add-on and I have two posible features I’d really use if you add them:
-Many suppliers per product part: Right now I can add just one and that makes me create duplicate product parts.
-Variants for product parts: If I want to consider a plane TShirt a product part, then I’ll have to add a product part for each size, color and material variant and that is cumbersome to maintain.- This reply was modified 6 years, 12 months ago by brisamia.
That’s truly fantastic. I’ll gladly pay for it! Thanks!
