Same for me. It asks for FTP details which are correct and work for updating plugins, and it says “Installation failed”.

Those tags are designed to go inside your posts. But there is probably an equivalent PHP call. Best idea is to have a look on your plugins homepage or in the readme file, if there is one.

By any chance, did you cut and paste your text from another application like M$Word? If so, try doing a first cut and paste into Notepad before cut and pasting into WP. Alternatively, you can use a program resident like HovText to automatically strip parasite caracters before pasting.

Having read all that I wouldn’t say the mods were RUDE but more like TOLERANT.
All the mods here render an enormous FREE service to the WP community and we should thank them for it rather than flame them when the response isn’t to our liking.
I haven’t bothered to go see what your downloaded thing is all about but it’s obvious that the support you’re asking for should come from them. But perhaps you’d have to pay for it…

I don’t think you can stipulate two background images. The only workaround I can think of is to elongate top-bg.gif to include some sort of graphics under the black. Or perhaps you could stipulate a black background and position your image to start scrolling where the black stops. But I’m afraid my CSS isn’t good enough to tell you how to do it.

If you take out url('images/top-bg.gif') repeat-x top left from the body css, the black top menu will remain. You can then change the background color on the sides as you seem to have found.
If you want to use a stretchable background image or a tile just put it in the images folder and stipulate it in the code instead of “top-bg.gif”. To get it scrolling you’ll find info on repeat commands here: https://www.w3schools.com/css/css_background.asp
