Changed behaviour of esc_sql() in WordPress 4.8.3

Before I run a wp-clone backup, I take a 4.8.1 version of /wp-includes/wp-db.php and temporarily install it on a 4.8.3+ version (just for the backup). After the backup, then I just restore back the original wp-db.php file.

It works for me.

I have the same issue. It’s also doing the same thing with # and messing up the restored version of the wordpress site.

Also, after a restore, my custom permalink gets populated with something similar to this random string: {aksdfalk123420934jlkaedflaksdf}

Obviously this is not widespread or they would have fixed it.

Maybe it’s two plugins conflicting. I’m running Genesis framework. Anybody have any of these plugins?

My widgets have disappeared as well with the last update.

If I disable the plugin, my widgets appear normally.

It’s been over a month since I posted this problem. I found a different plugin.
