@jmcelhaney I had already resolved the conflict but the update is working as expected, thanks.
The problem was a duplicate variable name introduced by Ninja Forms and also used in my theme.
David’s post solved the issue for me. This may or may not work for you depending on what plugins/theme you use.
I spent hours with my hosts tech support trying to figure out how this plugin was being auto-updated even though it wasn’t enabled. This article explains why WordPress forced the update. I could have saved a lot of time if Ninja Forms support team told me in their response rather than making me search for it on my own.

@dkomando Thanks for much for following up with your solution. I was fighting with this for the past 2 days until I found this and was able to fix my form (without touching Ninja’s plugin code).
I suspect this is an issue the Ninja Forms is working on a fix, but for now, David’s post solved the issue for me. This may or may not work for you depending on what plugins/theme you use.
3.6.11 has broken my form – even a simple contact form won’t load.
I’m getting the following JavaScript error:
https://share.getcloudapp.com/5zurwvGOI’ve tried disabling all other plugins and it’s still failing.
Is anyone else having this issue?
Hi @pauplesupport , I haven’t done much testing with the new version, but I can confirm that the above mentioned issue has been fixed. Much better, thanks!
Fantastic, thanks @pauplesupport
@aportmann @pauplesupport My experience has been that if you select all of the text in the search box and backspace to delete it (I think most people will do this), the faq list is not restored. The list will be restored as you backspace one character at a time though.
Thanks @pauplesupport, with Helpie FAQ set to Sort by Menu Order and the Inuitive Custom Post Order plugin, I’m able to sort both Categories and FAQ items.
Thanks for saving the day!
@pauplesupport Thanks for letting me know. Yes, I can confirm the search issue is fixed. I really like how this works now. ??
IMHO, one slight improvement would be to display a message if there’s no results rather than showing a completely blank page, but I think most people can figure it out.
That’s great @pauplesupport, thanks for the detailed response. I’m glad to hear that only categories for relevant search items will be displayed – that’s a better solution that what I suggested.
One thing that I did for my project was make the Search field sticky so that on mobile, as the user scrolls down, they can see that the FAQ is being filtered. It’s easy enough to do with CSS, but it might be a nice option to have.
Thanks for your response @pauplesupport. BTW, I should have mentioned that I think Helpie FAQ is a fantastic plugin!
1. I don’t think a clear search button is absolutely necessary, but I think it could help some users that don’t really understand that the results are being filtered. For instance, I have 5 categories, and if I type in a few letters that don’t find a match, my FAQ page only contains category headings with no FAQs – it looks like an empty FAQ page. Most users would realize that it’s being filtered and that they have to backspace for the FAQs to show up again, but an optional Clear Search button would make it more obvious. Another solution may be to have a default message to display under each category title if no FAQs match the search term. I just wonder if some distracted or less savvy users will understand that this page is being filtered: https://share.getcloudapp.com/Z4uy0Xgv. Of course this isn’t a huge deal, but I’m curious what sort of feedback I’m going to hear once this goes live.
One other thing I’m wondering… is it possible to sort the Category order on the FAQ page?
Thanks!
Thanks so much @codepeople, works great and is much more useful for searching on my FAQ page. I’ll definitely buy the premium version.
Wow, that’s very kind of you and completely unexpected! I think it could be useful for others too, but please, only if and when your have the time!
Sorry, I misunderstood the setting. And yes, I do only want to search on the current FAQ page, The search results would be more useful in this situation if there were more characters to give some context to the search.
