Sorry for the triple post, but… Add this feature to Pro (“custom image overlay”) and I’ll gladly pay in a heartbeat. Just sayin’!

When the plugin goes out to Youtube/Vimeo/etc and retrieves the thumbnail image file, then saves it to the local media library, shouldn’t we be able to add an intermediate step of overlaying a PNG of choice (play button on a transparent background) on top of the thumbnail? I haven’t worked with PHP in years but wish I stayed brushed up on my skills. Any help is appreciated!

I second this… How would we go about doing this?

Just realized if I go to the Edit Media page of any uploaded image, the “Edit Image” button (which allows you to rotate, resize, etc.) is inexistant. I have another WordPress 3.5 installation on a different server that IS working exactly as I expect it – thumbnails get created on upload, “Edit Image” button exists, etc.

Is this a server-side problem? Could some permissions be set incorrectly, which prevents WordPress from creating the different sized images after uploading? If so, which settings should I look into?

I can’t even get my installation of WP 3.5 to resize/crop any images when I upload them. Very frustrating, very hard to find other people with the same issue or any sort of solution. You’d think they’d do a bit more testing before they release these new versions…

Yeah, I have “crop thumbnails” checked and and have tried checking, unchecking, changing thumbnail dimensions and regenerating after each change.

I think the underlying issue seems to be not that the thumbnails aren’t getting resized, but rather WordPress 3.5 no longer generates ANY thumbnails when I upload new images. Is this happening to other people on 3.5?
