I’ll have a further poke around and use one of those functions.
Thanks again.

In reply to: My first shortcode – display recent postNo, I didn’t set the excerpt. Makes sense now!
I just had a play – Caracaustic, do you mean get_the_excerpt – I found that in Google and quickly replacing the $getpost->post_excerpt call with get_the_excerpt() works (kind of).
It’s currently giving me the first 50 words of the static home page… but it’s a start.

In reply to: Menu suddenly wonky in Chrome onlyHmmm… maybe best to speak to Template Monster then as hopefully they may be able to help you.
This could be a plugin issue though as well and/or and update in Chrome (rather than an update to your site).
I just took a quick peek at the source for your homepage, and it looks like something is a bit funky on the menu, but it could be nothing. Every menu location uses a class to point to the right location, but “reviews” seems to be using both a class and a URL…
While you’re waiting to hear back from Template Monster try:
-Rebuilding the menu
-Changing “Contact & Order” to “Contact and Order” or just “Contact” so it looks OK.Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: WordPress Slow in Admin PanelI imagine (although I might be incorrect), the admin area takes up more resources than the site itself – there’s simply more going on.
If you’re on a VPS, can you get into WHM (assuming that’s what you’re using) and up the RAM limit in PHP config?
Alternatively, talk to your host and see if they can raise it for you.

In reply to: How can I get a harassing Blog (in my name) removed?Hi Karen,
It looks like the site in question is via wordpress.COM – you can see the difference here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
This means it may be easier to have the site removed (wordpress.com has a stricter set of guidelines while a .org self hosted site may be unregulated depending on the host), but you’ll have to take your issue up with them.

In reply to: Small & unreadable font size on ChromeHi Nadav,
I’ve checked on Chrome and Firefox and I’m not seeing a difference between a very minor one between how bold is displayed.
If you are getting this problem, it may be with an older version of Chrome or how Chrome is displaying Hebrew text on certain computers.
Try making a page in English and compare it there.

In reply to: Cannot see the site titleAs juslooken said, give us a screen shot.
But…
I took a poke around – on pages other than the home page, the header “Travel insurance diary” is showing up, the copyright notice is not showing up on any pages. This isn’t in the HTML, so it’s not like it’s getting hidden or anything.
What I did notice, however, is that the homepage HTML says:
<!-- Cached page generated by WP-Super-Cache on 2014-09-11 19:35:29 -->
Pages showing the header have a later cache date (the the 12th).
Rik – try clearing all your caches through your WP super cache plugin and see what happens. If that doesn’t help, clear your browser caches as well.

In reply to: Googlebot can't access my websiteHi Abrazz,
Is this a new issue? I.e. was your robots.txt file and sitemap working and then suddenly it wasn’t? Or is this the first time your trying to use Google Webmaster Tools.
Also, have you moved hosting or servers recently by any change?
Finally, what’s the URL of your site?
Hi Whoops,
Firstly, maybe a mod could move this to the theme reviews section or something like that? It’s not an installation problem.
Whoops, just to try to help you out here, firstly, I’ve taken the liberty of tagging the post for AutoFocus theme and Mixfolio theme, hopefully in the future others will come across this post and see that these two themes are no longer maintained.
What you need to understand is that the beauty of WordPress is that it’s an amazing framework that is designed to be open for all to develop. WordPress has two choices: limit the framework and make regiment it in a way you’re describing – this would limit development. Their second choice (and the one they’re going with), is keep it open and therefore promote development.
WordPress as an organisation is responsible for WordPress, not third party themes and plugins. In this way, they guarantee that their latest stable build works, as well as their yearly theme. That’s it!
The best thing you can do from here is leave a review of the themes in question (either on this forum and/or on the theme’s website or where you got it) – it’s a self moderated community after all!
If you need help selecting or modifying a theme, perhaps ask for it in the themes section of this forum.

In reply to: Menu suddenly wonky in Chrome onlyHi Siggy,
First of all, for anyone else looking at this issue – I was able to duplicate this on Chrome on my laptop screen. It looks fine via Firefox. Via my phone (Samsung, default browser), it’s fine but not a fully responsive theme in that it’s not mobile, just shrunk somewhat.
Are you sure this has nothing to do with an update? Have you tried changing to the 2014 theme and seeing how your menus look?
It’s possible your theme isn’t playing nice with WordPress 4.0 update OR there may have been an update to your theme that is more comfortable in 4.0 and you haven’t updated yet. Basically, how does everything look in the 2014 theme?

In reply to: I made a typo when first creating a category and can't change it!Hi Little Sister Piggy,
In your dashboard if you hover over “posts” you’ll see a sub menu that says category. This allows you to change category names.
You’ll probably want to change the slug as well – the slug is what the URL will be for the the archive page.
For example, the slug right now is probably piggysisters.com/rv-tips-triks – this will point to the archive page for any posts you put in the category “RV tips and triks” – if you change the category name, you’ll probably want to change the slug too.

In reply to: Sudden increase in spam commentsThanks guys.
I guess now I’m concerned about false positives – since I’m getting so many, it’s hard to go through and check for false positives (and therefore teach Askimet). Although in the past I’ve never seen a false positive, I’ve seen a couple false negatives (I approve all new comments anyway, so it didn’t get through).
I’ll look into the captcha option I guess, but I’m reluctant as I feel it might discourage legitimate comments.
Maybe someone knows of any other ideas?

In reply to: Delete a theme and go back to NO themeHi Chielemangus – there’s not really “no theme.” You were probably on the default theme that came with your install – that would be 2013 or 2014 depending on when you started your site.
Do you see either of these in your themes directory?
In relation to deleting your themes, just click on the image of the theme. It will bring up a new window and you’ll have the option to delete it there.
Hope that helps.

In reply to: No image within imageHi Phoenix,
This may or may not solve your problem, but you may want to try shutting off all of your plugins and trying again. Assuming this makes things work, turn the plugins on one by one to see which one is causing the mess.
I was using Imsanity and EWWW image optimiser just fine on 3.9.2 but had trouble uploading in 4.0, turning off the plugins solved it.
While my problems was slightly different from yours, it was and image related problem caused by plugins in 4.0. Hopefully that can get you to the source of things.
