Also, when a user logs in and clicks on ‘Profile Details’ in the top bar, it does not
go where it should:https://australiaonlinecourses.com/edit-profile/
If he clicks on ‘dashboard’ in the top bar, it just goes to the Home Page.
However if he clicks on ‘profile details’ at the bottom it works:
https://australiaonlinecourses.com/aoc-my-account/edit-profile
Or if he clicks on ‘edit password’ at the bottom it also works:
https://australiaonlinecourses.com/aoc-my-account/edit-password

In reply to: Cant locate our 'home.html' page to edit itHi again
Those files were from wp-admin dashboard editor etc
From what you say, I have to go into my cPanel with Hostgator and edit the file in there, yes?

Can we can add the code through the front end – ie marinebiologycourses.com.au/wp-admin then go to dashboard, appearance, editor & look at the files available on the r/h/s of the screen
However, we cant see this file you mention – the only files we can see are below:

In reply to: Just lost our whole site doing wp upgradeOkay, well I just updated wp for the first time ever without deactivating plugins.
It worked, just as you said BT
But God…so scary. Losing your whole site is like losing your tongue (it changes your whole face) ( I’m told)
Anyway, after a very very stressful Friday (one student bought 3 courses and wanted to cancel once we lost the site, even though we had emailed all the stuff thru) We are finally back, with the new wp
thanks for all your time bro
You are the best! (of the best)..

In reply to: Just lost our whole site doing wp upgradeI found out which plugins wont ‘de-activate’:
Buddypress
vibe course module
vibe custom types
wplms customizer plugin
wplms front endSo if we have to deactivate all plugins prior to wp update, we’re in trouble at this part..

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Just lost our whole site doing wp upgradeNope
It wont deactivate buddypress plugin, just says:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_core_get_user_displayname() in /home4/brentonh/public_html/australiaonlinecourses.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-avatars.php on line 865
So I cant go ahead until i deactivate it I assume?

In reply to: Just lost our whole site doing wp upgradeWell..
We get the files sent to Dropbox too in case we need ’em.
the first time ’round I did ‘bulk apply’ deactivate all plugins, but it crashed. I only got it back by uploading func.php file to file mgr.
So..I’m hesitant to do bulk appy again to deactivate, are you saying we dont have to deactivate the plugins before we upgrade to newest wp version?
What is safest?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Just lost our whole site doing wp upgradeYes see we do update all plugins & theme as the new ones become available.
But I was lead to believe that to update WordPress itself to the new version, we must first deactivate all our plugins, then update wp, then activate all the plugins one by one, testing the site at each one, to make sure one of them doesnt bring the site down .. at least we would know which one isnt compat. with the new wp version.

We are upgrading to latest version of wp

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Just lost our whole site doing wp upgradeYes, looks like just about all were de-activated when we did a ‘bulk apply’ deactivation which gave us our whitescreen.
I have just activated all that we usually use now and the whole site seems to be working as it was.
I could try to deactivate plugins one at a time, instead of ‘bulk apply’ which we did the first time which took us down
What do you think?

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Just lost our whole site doing wp upgradeWell I just sent a ‘admin test message’ to a student, which goes thru buddypress & it seemed ot work okay saying ‘message sent to 1 members’ which is normal.
If it’s not wkg it says ‘message sent to 0 members’So you think I should try to activate twentyfourteen or twentyfifteen?
bh
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Just lost our whole site doing wp upgradeIn fact, when we try to do a ‘live preview’ of twentyfourteen or twentyfifteen – it just comes up with an error message:
