Ok, so I deactivated the Custom Permalinks plugin to test this theory, because I did see that the Yoast meta box allows you to customize the URL.

    1) Deactivate the Custom Permalinks plugin.
    2) Create new child page and edit.
    3) WP Editor shows child page URL as domain.com/parent/child/, while Yoast meta box shows the URL as domain.com/child/
    4) Yoast breadcrumbs are automatically assigned the WP URL for pages: domain.com/parent/child/
    5) Default URLs still exist and are NOT redirecting to custom URLs.

So, I am going to have to re-activate the Custom Permalinks plugin. So, you’re right, Yoast DOES allow you to customize the URL, but it doesn’t handle it very well. If for no other reason than to avoid potential conflicts of duplicate content and duplicate URLs for my site. At least with the Custom Permalinks plugin, when I customize a page’s URL, the default WP URL is 301 redirected to the customized URL.

The downside to this is that there is no way to back up those permalink changes or redirects. As soon as the plugin is deactivated, all of the custom URLs revert to WP defaults and all of the 301s are effectively rendered useless then.

    Seriously? *shocked look*

I didn’t realize that was possible with Yoast.

Just updated to 3.0.4, my issues are now resolved.

    I did this:

    1) Make sure I had a previous backup of the plugin folder.
    2) Deleted the plugin folder via FTP.
    3) Uploaded the backed up version I had of the plugin folder.
    4) Navigated to the plugins area of the WordPress Admin UI, activated Yoast SEO from there.
    5) Clear my browser cache.
    6) Open a page (to edit). Voila, fixed.

Actually, the URL preview wasn’t compatible with the Custom Permalinks plugin even with Yoast 2.3.5. But there is a fix for that (link below), but the fix DOES NOT work with Yoast 3.0.1 and requires custom changes to the Custom Permalink plugin:

Plus one. I can’t find the description meta either. I thought I was losing my mind. I’m also using the Custom Permalinks plugin, and the Yoast metabox is not showing the correct URL in the preview, either. It looks like it’s fetching the original URL the page was published with, not the current URL. I’m also rolling back.

No – I have no idea what the problem or fix is at this point, either. Because sometimes the Yoast metabox will display the correct, changed, URL, minus the trailing slash (that’s odd, too).

Sometimes it looks like it’s displaying the first URL the page was published with, not the current (changed) URL. That’s kind of scary.

Actually, I wish that instead of a subscription bar, there was a link in the logged in user line (“currently logged in as”) that said “Comment Subscription” – which, when clicked, would pop down the subscription bar, but it would otherwise stay hidden. That would be an ideal work around, too.

LOL! I’ve been testing random things to minimize the vertical design. I was just learning about the dynamic widths when you posted this ??

I do understand your reason for not being able to revert. But minimal vertical design is a major selling point for my site owners, and they will not be happy that in order to accommodate a previous feature, we have to increase that vertical design.

Since it is not possible to add subscribe options to the pop down (above the post comment button), rather than above the entire comments section, I am diligently testing alternatives to shrink that vertical design any way I can.

So you what an option which can subscribe users without even letting them know prior? We’ll add this on our to-do list.

This was a feature in v2… I’m not actually sure that I like it, but I can see my site owners requesting this. It seems like the way it was in v2, you could set it as a default, and then the user would get a subscribe notification e-mail, without the user having to take an extra step of manually subscribing. This could be useful.

there options are already exist. Please see this screenshot: https://screencast.com/t/yNh0CUVC

Ok, let me clarify: I’d like to see the checkbox for “Notify of new replies to this comment” replaced with the comment subscription bar. It’s great that users can be notified of replies to that particular comment. But I’d rather have the user’s entire list of subscription options moved to this area, in place of that checkbox. This was also a built-in feature of v2. The subscription options were hidden BELOW the comment area. A link for subscription options was shown (pop down on click) to users who had clicked to type in the comment box and then the subscription options were only shown (pop down further on click) when the user clicked on that link. This was great, because it minimized the vertical design of the comments area, which is a selling point of the plugin.

Issue #1: Ok, subscriptions are now working properly. Thank you! PS – The e-mails are coming with the correct name and from address!! THANK YOU!

From my original post, what about…

#2: back end option to enable/disable automatic subscriptions for new users.

#3: back end option to enable/disable the notification subscription bar for “all site visitors” (above comment form) AND option to enable/disable a notification subscription bar to the form pop down area (above the “post comment” button) for users who click inside the comment box. (This is useful for minimizing the vertical design of the comments area).

    Update from gVectors Team:

Subscription sign up does not work for logged-in users. It is working for users who have not logged in.

    Sent.

Not utilizing cache (via WordPress) and no CDN.

PS – If I didn’t make it clear – subscriptions do not currently work AT ALL. No one is getting notified that they have been subscribed, and no one is getting followup notifications. And no one is able to enable subscriptions.

Don’t know how this happened. My solution:

    1) Click to see WP Default page list.

    2) Click to open the page editor (quick edit didn’t work for this solution).

    3) Change the URL slug and update the page.

    4) Return to Nested pages list and page exists again.

    5) Click to open the page editor.

    6) Replace the original URL slug and update the page.

This seems to have gotten the pages back into the Nested Page list. Phew!

PS – Thing I tried that didn’t work:
    – deactivating & reactivating
    – deactivating, deleting, reinstalling, reactivating
    – moving the page to trash from default list, then restoring the page

Actually, this isn’t perfect, as the snippet is showing an extra trailing slash for the URL, but I’m not sure how to correct that…
