Wanted to verify if it’s an EM issue or WPFC only.
I though I checked this, but I just double checked and it seems to work when WPFC is disabled. So it’s a WPFC issue. You are the developer of this plugin too, right?

What do you mean with other event lists / calendars?do the events show up on your subsites (with and without WPFC)?
Yes. The events show up on the sites where they were posted. But not in the main blog, also not after the post rebuild.
