@neversettle Ok, ik that’s the case, then it would be best to determine when problems started to arise, then troubleshooting from there (since it was fully functional before).
Thank you,
Tom@neversettle Thank you. If you could do some troubleshooting and find the best solution (one that doesn’t require the cache flush) it would be greatly appreciated.
It might also be host dependent, but it seems like a lot of hosts are having this issue.
Thanks,
TomYes, this issue is not resolved and the risky workaround has to be performed with every site clone. The entire object cache has to be cleared for cloning to work.
From WPMUDev:
“Are you sure? The object cache should only be cleared if absolutely necessary. It is usually not needed except after making direct database edits or during development. If you aren’t sure, contact support and we’ll help you out.”@neversettle Can you please do some troubleshooting? Perhaps work on process of elimination?
1. When did the problem start?
2. Which WP or plugin version was affected?
3. Is this a WP issue, or plugin issue?
4. Test other, older versions, hosts, etc.I hope that you please look into resolving this matter.
Thank you,
Tom@neversettle Since this is an issue occurring across multiple hosts, it’s essentially the definition of a bug. It was working before, and now it isn’t (aside with an undesirable solution).
We’ve taken the time to troubleshoot the problem on our end. It would be nice to see the developer do the same.
? Perhaps test the product on other hosts
? Find the date and time when the errors started to occur
? See if it’s WP related, or plugin relatedWe’d really appreciate some troubleshooting, for those using the plugin. Thank you for the help.
@neversettle Thanks for your help with this. I guess I’m confused since the plugin was working fine before, but now it’s not without the caching fix (which is not recommended by hosts).
If it was working before, what changed to create the need for the caching resolution? I assume that would be a good starting point to troubleshoot the issue, since it was working before.
Thanks again!
Thank you, @wpmudev-support9. I totally agree, being that it’s not recommended and will affect performance.
@neversettle Can you find a solution to this caching issue? Or perhaps start to troubleshoot based on when the issue started?
@frankprendergast Yes, it seems like every hosting provider will have a different caching method to get the cloning to work.
Thank you.
Solution found, here. Clear object cache on host – in our case, WPMUDEV.
Thank you, @frankprendergast and @neversettle
@frankprendergast @neversettle
FYI we just tried the new WP update, but the issue continues.
@frankprendergast
@neversettleToday we built a WordPress environment on Oracle cloud to test. It’s still not working. I think it’s a bug. We’ve exhausted all troubleshooting options.
Thank you.
@neversettle Yes, we have several successful clones, prior to the issue.
The previous clones were working perfectly (theme, content, home page, etc.).
Thank you!
Hey @frankprendergast same here—reaching out to developer and support.
Good idea!
Hosting: WPMUDEV
Theme: GeneratePress
Not using Jetpack, so you might be able to rule that out.We have tried the caching fix, but that didn’t work.
When did you start having issues? Since the last WP update was Jan 6, perhaps that’s the problem.
Our tech expert think it’s either wait it out, bug fix, or find a different cloning plugin. No good solutions.
p.s. Issues seemed to progress over the past months (e.g. first a theme issue, then non-logged in issue, now a blank template). So it seems like the issues have started to worsen.
I’m also having a similar issue.
I’ve deleted all other themes that NS Cloner was reverting to, instead of the desired theme. Also reinstalled the NS Cloner plugin. Now, the cloner just creates a blank page.
When logged in, it says “template not found.”
Can you help with this matter?
Thank you!
