I hate making the users have to do anything extra to post comments, so all I do is use the optional comment moderation plugin to send any comments made on posts older than 10 days to moderation.

Cypher, the WP Plugin Manager is released under the GPL, so you could release your own version under the same license.

I’m on Dreamhost using their stock “one-click” installation of 1.5, so here’s another datapoint: Using the very useful test blog, I determined that I can successfully send both trackbacks and pingbacks, and I can receive trackbacks, but I can’t seem to receive pingbacks.

I had the same problem trying to migrate from a blogger-powered blog hosted on blogspot to wordpress on my own host. For some reason, blogger choked when it came to publishing archives in the export format to my host. I ended up publishing all the files to blogspot, and then saving them, stripping out the code added by blogger for blogspot hosting, renaming them, and uploading them to my own host. That worked fine, although it took a few extra steps.

This bug is being compounded by problems at Bloglines. Bloglines has failed to update numerous feeds–WordPress generated or otherwise–over the last few days. They’re supposedly working on it, so keep that in mind after you’ve applied the WordPress specific fixes listed above.
