Is there a way to test your podcast to see if you’ll be cool with iTunes? I think I am, because it’s been running on iTunes for 5 months with no problem, but I don’t want them to suddenly tell me that I am doing it wrong.
Is there a way you can just test “byte range requests” on your own to make sure you are good? I can’t even really figure out what these things are, beyond “something to do with streaming.”

In reply to: How do I disable Mobile Theme in Jetpack 1.8 = broken with ThesisThanks for this. I thought I had deactivated it, but I didn’t.
It’s worth noting that the mobile theme doesn’t appear to be compatible with the ComicPress Theme – which is a big theme heavily used by makers of webcomics.
By not-compatible, what I mean is this: your comic disappears on mobile devices. Not that the whole site breaks down.
But, when the whole point of your WordPress site is the comic and not the words, that’s a pretty big failure. So I think it’s fair to say that Jetpack mobile is totally incompatible with ComicPress.
My site hasn’t worked on mobile devices for days now, till I found this, which is a real bummer. Seems okay now once I deactivated.

In reply to: Chrome problemWhen I use WordPress on Chrome, either at home or work, it doesn’t put my line breaks in. They are just gone when they go up. You can see them on the edit page but when you look at the actual blog, no line breaks. They are just gone. This holds true no matter what browser I look at the blog in. No line breaks if I write my post in Chrome. I don’t get it.

In reply to: Email to CommentsLivejournal has a feature where you get replies to comments you post emailed to you. Then, you can actually reply back in your email, without ever revisiting the blog. This crontributes to some pretty intensive dialogues on there (because all their emails get posted), and I think makes the comments much more robust. It would be cool if WP could do the same.

In reply to: error 127It seems like everyone who’s having this problem is on Yahoo! and that Yahoo! won’t do anything.
Sooooo…
here’s a question. If we migrated our whole website to another host, would that screw everything up?
Would they then be able to fix it?Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: error 127I’m having this trouble, too. I’ve been reading the various threads on it but I’m not getting anywhere. I guess I’m just venting because my computer at home just went down so I can’t really dig into this at work.
Here’s what I do know, though, I ran a Database Repair and it did nothing. That stinks.
I have a second blog that’s hosted in the same database. It’s okay, but this one is not. Ouch.

In reply to: Best stats pluginHuh? Not activated? Am I missing something… on my plugins page it says it’s activated. I’ve entered my API Key. It seemed happy with it.
What else do I need to do? Is there some other place to turn it on?
I’m going to look for WP Stats instructions online now, but I’m definitely interested in this.
I get a page for “Stats” on my Dashboard. It just doesn’t register any hits (though it registers incoming links, weirdly). At this point, I know I’ve had quite a few hits on both my blogs.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Best stats pluginWhat I find interesting is that I just installed WP Stats on my blog, one that’s had Slimstat on it for a while. STats has only been on a couple days now, but while Stats says NO ONE has visited my site, SlimStat says that almost 100 people have.
Weird? Which one is right?
On the referrer pages under SlimStat, though, it lists all these sites people have clicked from that I know mention me in one way or another.
Meanwhile, it doesn’t list one that’s listed on Stats… yet, like I said, Stats is telling me I’m getting no love.
I’ve always wondered if maybe SlimStat counts lots of robots and search engines and spiders, while Stats is better at spotting actual human visitors.
But how would you ever know???

In reply to: Category page in chronological order (newest first)I figured it out!
I added this plug-in:
https://drunkenmonkey.org/user/archive/custom-query-string-2.6.zipBut I couldn’t figure out how it worked. Once you add it, all you have to do is follow what it says in the
last post on this page.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: changing order of postssilpstream,
can you revise that code so that it could go on a category page and arrange all posts within a category from oldest to newest?
???Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: .htaccess’s location doesn’t make it workI guess maybe I just don’t have one, because I did tell FileZilla to show hidden files and it’s still not there.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Changing the order of postsAh, alas, I have a similar desire. I want my main page to stay normal but I want my category page to go from oldest to newest (here’s why, I’m posting novellas as I write them, so I want a new reader to be able to click over to a page and read them from beginning to end. They would get a real headach the other way).
But… the plug-in above is no longer supported and I can’t figure out how to get the darn thing to work. It’s not one of those plug-ins that just goes, like Akismet.

In reply to: .htaccess’s location doesn’t make it workOkay, I just went ahead and upgraded and it didn’t seem to blow up my blog, so i guess I’m all right. If it remained hidden, the way I deleted out my old files would not have deleted it, soooooo… I guess I’m cool. If I ever get more advanced I’ll be curious to know where the darn thing is, though.
