It should work with the OSBiB parser (you can change the parser in papercite preferences); I tried with this bibtex file

By the way, reporting bugs should be done on the github site for easier tracking.

There is now a timeout option that you can set at 3 different levels (global, page specific, bibshow/bibtex).

Your idea of bibload is good, and I think I will use a more generic way of setting default options; namely, a

[papercite X=Y]

shortcode, to set option X to Y by default.
