In reply to: [Secondary Title] Secondary Title field missing in latest updateThanks.. it’s weirdly gone away! I should have come back and so reported. No more problems… I now get the field whenever I “add new”… I’m also using a plug in that clones posts–it might have been that I was cloning posts from before the secondary title and it just took a while to get passed that… sorry for the false alarm, thanks for your help.

In reply to: [Secondary Title] Secondary Title field missing in latest updateBut isn’t… I was having this problem–until I noticed your “have to save as draft or publish for it to appear.”
I hope this is something that can be fixed in a future release, because it’s an extra step (that really doesn’t make sense) when publishing quick or short posts.

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Eliminating Warning on DashbordThanks again, Brook… so far everything seems fine. I probably should have addressed this a long time ago, but it was such a minor annoyance I just kept overlooking it. Let this be a lesson in procrastination! With a little more courage and curiosity I could have fixed this a long time ago!

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Eliminating Warning on DashbordBrook… I only have one plugin. As I recall, this (Events Calendar) was originally called “Events” and we are talking about the same plugin. As evidence to support that, the warning I haven’t been able to get rid of has a clickable link in the last sentence–that link IS to the Events Calendar settings page. Also note the warning quoted refers to Events Calendar.
That said, I seem to have resolved this problem… with great fear and trepidation, I used the “migrate data” option referred to on the settings page Events Calendar settings page. It said 8 events were “migrated” (no clue what they were or what actually happened) and now the pesky warning has disappeared from my dashboard.
Case closed! Thanks for the suggestions.

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Eliminating Warning on DashbordStill seeing the notice about 2.0. I’m trying to think of it as an old friend, but wouldn’t miss it if it was gone!

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Eliminating Warning on DashbordLeah… I just updated to 3.6.1–usually update within days of them becoming available. Thanks!
@jeremy… I created a new post on Brain Leaks, then almost immediately visited Abbot Village Press. There was my new post, right at the top of the list! YAY! I think I can declare the widget is working, at least for me!
Thanks for your patience and determination… and for the fact I didn’t have to figure out “SQL queries.” ??
@jeremy… sorry for the delay in replying, things got crazy. You’re a little over my head with the SQL query, etc. but I did run the Jetpack update with the result that my most recent posts are now showing. That feels like major progress! Won’t know for sure until I post something new to the site being polled… I’ll report back as soon as I’ve done that and checked the results.
I tried adding a new widget to poll from another of my blogs: boomsmaonline.com and received the message “We cannot load blog data at this time.”
I then switched the new widget to poll from WPTavern and received the same message “We cannot load blog data at this time.”
I’m not anxious to try a different theme only because I’ve got this one where I want it, but I wonder if this could somehow be a theme-related issue… (I’m really guessing because I do not have much understanding of how these things work.)
I deactivated and deleted the Jetpack plugin… and reinstalled from scratch. No change, the old posts are still showing.
So I decided to try removing the widget, then adding it back.
It STILL shows the old posts.
I deactivated the WP Super Cache Plugin.
It STILL shows the old posts.
This might end up being re-post as my earlier one seems to have disappeared. (Now it has appeared, but I don’t know how to delete it… sorry for the double post.)
I received and ran the Jetpack update, then uninstalled and reinstalled the widget.
This appears to have resolved the issue of the widget appearing within another, but the post list is still not updating–it remains the same list it was a month ago.
Just received and completed the Jetpack update… then uninstalled and reinstalled the widget. This fixed the problem of the widget appearing within the border of the previous widget, but it is still not updating to the most recent posts.
Just noticed I said that backwards… the next widget appears within the border of this widget… hope that was the correct way to post the screen shot.
I assumed you meant the widget itself… I had to reinstall it to do so… now it is back to showing the older posts and not the error message. But I also noticed something interesting this time… in the side bar, this widget appears within another widget! You should be able to see what I mean by visiting the site https://abbotvillagepress.com.
Thanks…
I deactivated WP Super Cache–this had no effect–just kept seeing those same posts. I had already removed and added the widget with no effect.
I tried removing the widget while WP Super Cache was deactivated and that resulted in the message “unable to load blog data at this time.”
I reactivated WP Super Cache and still see the message “unable to load blog data at this time.”
So these steps seem to have taken me from seeing an unchanging list of posts to seeing the error message.
