Figured out that the users were getting logged in but was showing a cached page of the the page where it still tells you that you not logged in while in fact you are logged in. I tried ticking the box that says ignore caching on users logged in but this doesn’t work. Any suggestions?

Oh btw I don’t have or use the “remove /blog” Plugin

Thanks guys, what I ended up doing is download a backup a day earlier of wp_1_options and replaced that table with old data. There are rows under column option_name: permalink and rewrite_rules that you have to change if you want todo this manually.

I am not brave enough right now to upgrade to WordPress 3 if that what you mean with switch to multisite.

In admin settings it says /blog/%postname%/ Under custom but I cannot change the part where it says /blog
I am not sure what happen here. It has been fine for months.
