In reply to: PHP code stopped rendering properlyI was reviewing my WP maintenance notes, and discovered I had previously installed a plugin: “Exec-PHP”. I apparently had deleted it at some point. I reinstalled, and all is well now. Sorry for not catching that earlier.

In reply to: PHP code stopped rendering properlyIf I can’t use PHP in a default WP Page, I’ll have to rethink my strategy. My pages don’t allow commenting, but I could understand why WP might disallow PHP code in regular Pages, if doing so is a potential security opening.

I get no PHP error in a browser; do you mean a PHP error in a WP or server log?
I wasn’t aware PHP doesn’t work in WP pages.

In reply to: Modifying a function in a child php fileThat html comment is above (thus outside of) the php open/close tags, but, yes, in the functions.php file. I thought I had it working with that comment in yesterday (and this is confounded by some earlier problems with the host), but after removing it, all seems OK now. Can html comments not be used in WP in php files if they are not inside the open/close php code?
I’ll try the debug tip.

In reply to: Home page: 404 errorI was able to eliminate the 404 error, and the post content of my home page is displaying, however “Home” continues to be displayed twice. I’ll dig further.
