It really depends on your host – some hosts can process 500MB using zip in a single PHP process while others can’t. For those hosts that can’t one can use DupArchive which splits the package processing across multiple PHP processes, however with Lite the DupArchive process is limited to 500MB.

Hi, I’m sorry you feel that way. For many people the Free product can work fine since we actually have two formats included in the plugin – one is zip and the other is our custom format “DupArchive”.
In terms of limitations, we don’t limit the size of zips at all – if a zip package isn’t working or getting cut off, that would most likely be caused by CPU or memory limitations imposed by the host.
Regarding DupArchive we do limit this, because we think it is reasonable for a free product to provide the capability that a 500 MB site can be able to be bundled up, even on sites that typically are prevented from doing so by host limitations.
A quick background on DupArchive – we developed over the better part of a year after discovering that many budget hosts cut off zip creation before a package can get created. This caused a lot of frustration with people as you can imagine. DupArchive has features like retries so in the event a host cuts off the build, it attempts its best to resume and actually overcome host issues.
So we tried to strike a balance by providing no limits on the size on zips (we have no control over hosts though so if things get cut off, that is a host issue) and then DupArchive which has the ability to overcome those limitations.
Aside from all that, we do provide a technique that allows you to migrate a site of any size with Free, even if your host is cutting off the zip and your size is larger than 500MB. This technique is described here: https://snapcreek.com/duplicator/docs/quick-start#quick-060-q

In reply to: [EZP Maintenance Mode] Any plans for updateIt works with 7.2, I haven’t personally tested 7.3 but it should work fine with that version.

Hi, I believe you are getting this because code in our installer expects the archive to end in either .zip or .daf and if it doesn’t end in .zip it assumes .daf. The simplest way around this would be to create another archive using the DupArchive engine (Settings > Packages > Archive Engine = DupArchive) – in that way the extension will be .daf and the existing installer code won’t get confused because the extension changed.

Hi, I noticed you are trying to build a zip – try switching to the DupArchive format (Settings > Packages > Archive Engine) We developed this to specifically work around a lot of the issues found on shared hosts. Please let me know if doing this fixes the issue.

Hi, I’m sorry you feel that way. Actually, quite a few people like the way Duplicator does things. One major advantage of the Duplicator way is that it captures your exact WordPress site – including the core, not just the content files. So when you restore you are getting an exact duplicate (not mixing the core on the destination with a set of content and database files from the source as is the case in some other plugins).
Also, we’ve had quite a few people express appreciation for not having to go through the hassle of installing WordPress and the plugin itself in order to restore. So in the end, I believe it comes down to personal preference.

Hi Michela, if you haven’t already, could you submit a ticket to https://snapcreek.com/ticket with a quick description of your issue. Also, if you are comfortable could include a sharing link on the ticket to a copy of the archive that is exhibiting the problem? (send.firefox.com, sharing via Google Drive or Dropbox are three easy ways) Thanks
Bob
P.S. When submitting the ticket please mention “Attention: Bob” so I’m the one who gets it

Are you guys using zip-based packages or DupArchive-based packages?

In reply to: [EZP Coming Soon Page] Too Easy !~!!I’m glad the plugin is working well for you and thanks for the review ??
Hi Alison, 1.2.42 was released on August 24, 2018 so anything before that date would have been built with an earlier version.
Bob
Hi, I just got done talking with Wordfence. They WILL flag installer versions 1.2.40 and below as security risks – and based on the timestamp of all installers in your list it appears all of those installers were older ones. We had implemented an important security fix in 1.2.42 so any 1.2.42 installer or later should not be flagged by Wordfence.
If you see Wordfence flag an installer that has been created with Duplicator 1.2.42 or later please let us know since those should not be getting flagged.
Bob
Hi, could you send that text to [email protected] – Thanks
