Thanks for the response. The block was due to Malicious file upload PHP.

I have tested changing a user from “Subscriber” to “Author” which allows the photo to be loaded. The question then is whether to make all our members “Author” or remove the Malicious File Upload PHP rule.

Given the pages which allow upload or posting are all ones which require users to be logged in it seems either is possible. Is there any other choice and which might be better in your view?

To confirm what the other plugin author said I disabled WordFence and was then able to successfully upload the particular image.

So it appears that WordFence prevents a subscriber uploading an image from a Pixel phone but permits an Admin to do the same.

Yes, the topics are private and members need to log in to see the actual forum posts. Does that mean we cannot include the extract even though they are being sent to those with login rights? Surely the plugin has access so can do the extract for the email?

Thank you for your response. I seem to have solved the problem by doing it another way. While I thought the problem related to how many files were being set for downloading it actually seems to relate to some particular files – files which now are working though the Media listing shows them differently. The files that worked ok show in Media list with a folded corner paper but those that did not show as a broken link.

Why would that be?

This is weird! I triggered it to send the notifications for the new post which it did. I also noticed some notifications of replies to a topic had been sent out, but replies for another topic had not. I then triggered it to send those and watched the cron Event list. I never saw a bbpress cron job appear but maybe it was too transient.

So it seems to be sending for some and not others. Might this be because of the numbers to be sent? In which case is there another way to achieve this?

It seems it was not a one-off as it has happened again.

Under Wp-CronControl in Cron Events I cannot see any event with a name starting bbpress_notify_bg_*

Does that suggest a problem, or better still a solution?

I hosting company are saying that Memcached would only be doing something if there is a caching plugin too. Is that right? I have never heard of it before.

I have tried as suggested and now the problem has arisen for me! I am able to get to the WordPress dashboard etc but the actual web site says need to log in.

What I have now identified is that the server has “memcached”. Is that the problem?

Yes, we have W3 Total Cache. But we have included the setup instructions you provide to exclude certain cookies and pages.

We don’t log members out on browser close as we think they prefer to get straight back in if they revisit within a certain period of time. But might this solve the problem?
