Yes, in order to use the Intercom Messenger on your site, you’ll need to have an Acquire subscription.

We don’t currently have a free version of our messenger, but the Intercom platform – which allows you to track your users – is free forever: https://www.intercom.com/customer-intelligence

Sorry that you were disappointed and thanks for your feedback.

Our platform, which allows you to track your customer data, is free forever. However, the Intercom Messenger for your website is currently part of our Acquire product (which sits on top of our platform) and requires a subscription – I can see how this might have caused confusion, but it is not our intention to mislead. The description and installation instructions do refer to needing an Acquire subscription in order to use the plugin, though we’ll be sure to work on making this clearer.

Would you mind getting in touch with Intercom support through the messenger on the web app? They will be able to tell if your requests are getting through to Intercom (can you see the trackEvents doing anything in the network tab of your web console?) or if there’s another issue at play.

Do you see any web console errors when your events are being tracked?
