The problem is the files is not uploading at all. I read in your note about jquery

“What are the common problems that can prevent upload to work? In some cases, it can happen that jQuery is not included in the page, even so the bbPress requires it to be loaded. That can happen if something else is unloading jQuery. If the jQuery is not present, upload will not work. Other common issue is that WordPress Media Library upload is not working. If that is not set up, attachments upload can’t work.”

I have deactivated all of the plugins I use (it’s only a few) other than bbpress, of course, but still no upload happens.

Is there another way to check if jquery is running/included?

I have bbpress running on four sites right now, and simple:press on one. bbpress is very simple (far simpler than simple:press) and it works great, but it doesn’t have the ability to have attachments into posts.

My sites are all private in that everyone gets redirected to a WordPress login page and everyone has been added as users. I use a plugin called “Restricted Site Access” for that and it’s brilliant. Getting notified of new content is mandatory for this group.

Because my sites are available to a small group we use it as a document repository too that’s why I want members to be able to attach files. But, the notification requirement is far more important. So, until and unless the simple:press guys get back to me to tell me they have a notifier plugin I’ll stick with what I have.

Putting 1.7em wasn’t nearly enough. I had to use

In the twentyten theme “margin-bottom” occurs 23 times. Which ones affect regular text in posts, comments, or regular paragraph text?

I have been on the verge of using it. I actually installed it on one very simple site and liked it. I had a very simple question about a plugin that would notify each (of a dozen) users of a new post. I emailed the moderators and told them I’d pay if I could be assured that such a plugin existed but got no response.

It’s such a turnoff.

MickeyRoush, other than bbpress, what else do you like? I wanted simple:press because it had a plugin that allowed posters to attach documents so I could use it as a simple document repository. bbpress doesn’t have that but it does have the notifier.

I have been reluctant to migrate to simple:press for the same reason. I don’t want to get half way there and have a lot of problems and then have to pay. I actually wouldn’t mind paying a nominal fee to get started.

Can you say something about how the process went as far as the migration? Any issues or was it straightforward?

Thanks, will do. But, in the spirit of full disclosure I signed up for WPManage.com which has a clone feature and because I am under ten sites it’s free. It worked flawlessly in under three minutes. I tried yours first and failed which is why I made this post and sought your advice.

I just registered and cloned a site in less than five minutes. And, because I am only using two sites/url my account is FREE. This is an amazing site and very intuitively laid out. GREAT JOB.

rtucker doesn’t know what he’s talking about and should learn to pay attention before bad-mouthing a service.

I think you guys are great and will recommend to any of my friends who manage multiple sites.

I had this problem and I deactivated plugins one at a time and, sure enough one of the plugins was causing a problem. I deleted the plugin and then reinstalled and all was well.

When you downloaded your theme to your computer, I hope you made a directory called wordpress/themes. If not, do it and keep all your themes there. Do the same for wordpress/plugins

I assume you are comfortable with FTP. I use Filezilla. Open your hosted site and find wp-content/themes and upload your new theme to that folder. Then, as Aventura54 said, go to Appearance/Themes and your new theme should be there. Then click Activate.
