I added duplicator to the Lions site but I get a warning about the version of WordPress which 3 something. I went ahead and added it and ran it and it seems to work ok. But when I try to start lions I get the following error. I don’t any about MySQL. I had sure hoped this would work. I am too scared to try updating the live lion’s site to 4.8 that it will break and I don’t currently have FTP access as nobody current knows the user or password details.

Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress.

    https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-move-live-wordpress-site-to-local-server/

Excellent how to move live to the local server using a duplicator plugin. The plugin does all the work. Took me only 15 minutes to add the plugin, which I had never done before to complete the move. The plugin also does local server to live site or live site to a second live site. The how to explains also how to do it manually, just a little more work. The plugin also has a pro version, of course, that backups up to the cloud.

Now I have to figure out if can have more than one local site. But that is another day.

I get an “Error establishing a database connection.” I have created a database and added the user from details in wp-config.php. So the database isn’t updated when I copy a new set of site files. But I am shooting blind. So I will hunt for some mamp support.

Maybe someone that has done it will chime in.

I tried copying a complete backup of my site and it doesn’t work but I am tired and brain dead so I will leave it for another day. I have got other things to catch up on.

    Thanks for all your help.

I reloaded WordPress after deleting the old. I am at a loss now. It must be something with mamp setup but I have checked the settings and nothing stands out.
This should have been easy the port helped. I hate to think how much time I have spent doing this.

I reinstalled mamp. I got my install. It was easy this time everything just worked and I know what I should do.

Now to figure out how to get existing missioneasysoftware.ca loaded.

I have checked the names the best I know how. I moved the wordpress from being a sub folder of htdocs to in htdocs thinking maybe mamp is confused about which folders to use. I am just guessing. What you like a screen shot of. How do I load a screen shot here

    I get now
    Can’t select database
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the wordpress database.
    Are you sure it exists?
Does the user root have permission to use the wordpress database?

We are a step a head I think

I don’t know if it is the install or the mamp server causing the problem.

I get an Error establishing a database connection. I even tried to create my own wp-config.php and it failed.

I have done that and I still fail the submit. I followed a mac install video. I have a wordpress database and root user though I don’t know the password but root seems right based on the docs.

Thanks for your time to reply.

I watched a mac video on install and these are the values they used.
What am I doing wrong? I followed each step including creating a wordpress database

    Database name wordpress
    Database username root
    Database password root
    Database host localhost
Table prefix (if you want to run more than one WordPress in a single database)

I am confused. All my htdocs and subfolders are flagged read only. I try changing them but it doesn’t stick. I now get permission errors trying to access files. I am shooting in the dark here.

I think I have mamp servers running ok. But I can’t figure out the correct place to load a copy of my website. My web is in public_html so that what tried with no success. I just guessing try to follow docs for the mac.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
