There is a field in the admin-gui, where you can change the URL. You should do that immediately before changing the directory.

Or you can change the URL directly in the database (in ?_options).

It would be the easiest way to enable both http and https in parallel and then changing the url in the admin panel from https to http. That will be all …

Mmmm, ever thought about changing the etc/hosts file on your machine, so that ‘online url’ links to 127.0.0.1 ?

As far as I got it, you’d only like your system to be available from your machine as well as from the internet. Adding that part to the hosts file, it is treated like a DNS entry and your machine connects to itself without using the internet connection.

The hosts file is in Unix under /etc/hosts and in Windows under %WIN_DIR%/system32/drivers/etc/hosts …

It seems like the declaration is made with the backslash first, then when there’s a backslash in the url, it is ignored (urls don’t know backslashes). If you use a normal slash, akismet tries to register itself and get’s the error, because the name is already registered.

Can you try it with %5C instead of the backslash. If that works, my theorie seems to be proven right … but I’m afraid, that wouldn’t help. Maybe I get an idea overnight (I’m in switzerland and it’s about time to get on the couch ;-)).

Maybe you should issue an error into the tracking system … or some guru has a better idea on how to get it to work.

No, there’s a backslash in the uri, how could that happen ? If you change it by hand (i know, i know, not the best way), does it (the marking as not spam) work then ???
That could be a problem with php (with the constant __FILE__) and windows … sorry, I have no further ideas.

And what is displayed in the adress bar of the browser when spam is displayed (before marking it as “not spam”) ?

@frankenboy: The Database has to create a temp file for the result of the select. Maybe there’s no space available there or the user under which mysql is running is not allowed to create / update files there … or: there’s no space left ??

@nmallory: It seems like some parts of the admin app are not correctly updated. User Level is no longer available with wp 2.0. Check your plugins, maybe they need to be updated.

You can do that by SQL or in the users view of phpmyadmin (in the database) … I don’t have it available.

Have you tried a new install, it sounds like somethings gone terribly wrong. What Versions are you using (php, mySQL, OS) ?

No, but you can give new users level whatever by default (it’s in the options panel). Are you using WP 2.0 or 1.5 ?

Can you have a look into the HTML generated for the plugin page (the overview of spam), there should be actions defined in the form tags. Are they different ? Can you find akismetakismet.php there ?

But: What did you do ? Is the Installation finished ? Have you activated URL-rewriting ?

That sounds very strange. Are the DB rights set properly ? Has the user (for some tables) write but no read access ?
The options seem to be available for reading …
