Simply put: The step by step install instructions are very clear up to the point installing via upgrade.php imho

Re: did you run the wp-admin/upgrade.php after installing the new version?
Here is where I am sure I messed up. I opened upgrade.php with IE without luck and then Dreamweaver which asked for directory names, passwords … all very confusing.
As a consequence, my site is up again after upgrade — with some minor errors, but I cannot get into admin via https://www.blog4.org . Any hints?

    Yes, I’m sorry

I am having a somewhat similar problem as Mary Kaye.
I too just attempted an upgrade to WP2.02. When I try to enter my site admin I get this:
    “Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.
Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?”

My site is available (needing some adjustment but basically ok). I go to it via https://www.blog4.org/wp-admin .

I have tried to copy back my saved wp-config file — without luck.

Okay. I have been to that file/instructions. I must have misread them. I thought that that download was good for 1.5.1 > 1.5.3 . I assume now from your directions above that this download will take me straight from 1.5.0 to 1.5.3 — one upgrade, using one upgrade download. Correct?

“The” page? Which page? It’s not this page. Nor is it the download page which provides a 1.5.1 > 1.5.3 upgrade.

A download of files. There is a support entry here on upgrading from 1.5 > 1.5.1 which says in part:
    1. BACKUP your database
    2. Download 1.5.1. Unzip it.
    3. Open the unzipped folder …
My question is: Where is this “1.5.1” that I need to unzip?

Finally, I have looked but can’t find the upgrade 1.5 >1.5.1 . Can you point me there?

Therefore, if it shows 1.5 , I must first upgrade to 1.5.1.
Then, can I go straight up to the lastest editon? Or, must I make other local stops along the way?

Simple Question: At the bottom of my WP Dashboard it reads “Word Press 1.5”. Does this mean 1.5 , it might it mean 1.5.1 ? Put another way, how do I look and see what edition I am running?

Thanks, Franz. If I upload the image to my pc, what then the the URL?
I feel that this is a VERY simple question, but that’s where I’m at. It’s going to be awhile longer before I metamorphize into a geek.

Could someone (or has someone) done a step-by-step image insertion routine? Example: 1) I am reading a blog; 2) it has a nice chart or photo I want to refer to in my blog; 3) I write a paragraph in my blog on the source and why I think it is interesting; and 4) I copy the chart/photo into my post for illustration. What are the steps I must take witin 1.5 Kubrick? Must it be a whole lot more complex than writing the paragraph and pasting the image into an email? If so, sign me “Spoiled Emailer” ??

What file points the new “Presentation” utility to alternative templates?
Working through fantastico, I have been unable to have WP recognize alternative templates that I placed in folders with ‘default’. I have resigned myself to using the Kubrick default. But would prefer to go with an alternative.
