I’ll try to be clearer.

After writing a post and publishing it I click the

shortLINK

button and that is when the dialogue box pops up with the shortlink as in these images.

I don’t think so, I’m using Thesis 2.1 Theme though with the personified skin.

I take that’s not normal behavious in WP?

Been using WP for years just not really used shortcodes before.

Justa shot in the dark, I have had a similar issue in the past and it was my browser so it may be worth trying another just in case.

WP runs on php

As far as I am aware the only .html file you should have on a wordpress installation is the readme.html in the root folder.

I think you need to be looking here for the answers to that one

Yeah finally got it do update automatically after about 15 attempts, couldn’t get it to work from mac but managed from pc twice now.

I did manage to get the upgrade auto installed before the link broke and it is working fine

WP E-Commerce plugin was my issue too, but altering the jquery file name didn’t fix it for me.

Not a big issue to deactivate the plug while I configure widgets and then reactivate when finished and all works fine
