I’ve been looking at what changed around the time the problem arose – and the hosting company moved to PHP 7.3 as the default version. So I forced the site to go back to PHP 7.2, and changes to the forms started saving again without problems!
I don’t yet know what caused to problem in CF by moving to 7.3, but I’ll be setting up a local copy on my laptop to investigate.
At least I’ve got over the problem on the live site!

In reply to: [Gutenberg] UIX totally unsuitable for beginner / infrequent userI’m amazed that you haven’t had a look at Elementor, as I would have thought that it was the biggest competitor to Gutenberg with over 1 million downloads from the WP plugin library.
I’ve got some screenshots that would show what I’m on about, but the main thing is that on hover it shows the block structure as a nested set of blue outlines, complete with ‘bumps’ on each outline for access to the settings, etc. No waving the mouse around to decode the block structure and find the right three dots.
It also has a nice big ‘+’ symbol at the centre bottom of the page being edited to add a new block there.

In reply to: [Gutenberg] UIX totally unsuitable for beginner / infrequent userI’m aware of that, and have installed it on all of my websites. But there is no formal statement as to how long the Classic editor is going to be supported for, so it could possibly be only a short-term fix.
I believe that there is a need to point out to the Gutenberg team that the UI isn’t as good as other drag & drop editors and give them chance to improve it. I also think that Gutenberg should not be made part of the WP core until it has been ‘stress-tested’ on real, live sites for longer.

In reply to: [Simple Event Planner] PHP error on new installationI’ve just done a completely clean installation of WP 4.9.4 (download, unzip to server, new empty database, etc) and then downloaded a clean copy of SEP from the WP plugin area and still get exactly the same error.
Regards

In reply to: [Simple Event Planner] PHP error on new installationI purposely tried SEP on a local (XAMPP with PHP 7) copy of the latest WordPress and installed a clean copy of the latest SEP (1.4.0) through the Add Plugin screen.
Regards.

In reply to: [Simple Event Planner] PHP error on new installationI haven’t even got that far: I just did a clean install on WP 4.9.4 and went to the “Add Event” screen and the error message was already there in the “Add Segments” box.
Has anything happened about this? AT present I get HTML like the following, which is contrary to the intent of the HTML specifications and accessibility guidelines!
<h3>1. Heading</h3>
<h3>1.1. Heading</h3>
<h3>1.2. Heading</h3>
<h3>1.2.1. Heading</h3>
<h3>1.3. Heading</h3>
<h3>2. Heading</h3>It makes Documentor a bad choice if you want a valid site.
The Google spreadsheet holds the values that you would expect: First name, Last name, Email address, Date request raised, Subject (title), Request text (message), Priority. It can be exported from Google as comma separated text with long text fields surrounded by quotes (“); the fields could be arranged in any order required.
Any comments & progress information are just added to the message text, rather than being a separate field.
All completed and rejected requests would be filtered out before export so that all records would be at status ‘open’.
I could create a sample file if you need one, but the description above should give you enough to go on.
Thanks
