OK, so the admin reinstalled RewriteModule, and that did the trick. Well, at least partially.
Now pages are working okay, but ‘featured images’ that are assigned in posts cannot be found due to a “500.50 – URL Rewrite Module Error”. However, some images linked in this method do work, those that I added as featured images when this particular WP project was in an apache-based development environment, before it was ported to IIS. Only feature images added to articles after the move to IIS are causing the error.
