Would it be possible to pull the text for alternatives to “Continue reading” from a custom field?

Thanks. I should have been clearer. In my old theme I used custom fields to give each post a different ‘read more’.

This could be because I wrote the aside first without a title. I’ll try entering a new one with a title.

Yes, that fixed it.

So it seems a title is essential for an aside – if that’s how you’ve set permalinks.

@govpatel – I think you’re right, it’s the server.

@govpatel – it’s a clean install, I was using the default theme.

The host has all the above, the site was working fine four days ago, then the host had an outage. It hasn’t worked since.

It’s not a plug-in issue.

I don’t think Suhosin is on my server – it’s not listed anywhere. How would I know if it is there?

Hmm. I need to keep threaded comments, so that’s not an option.

I’ve been having problems with the same issue, but when I hit the back key the post text box is empty.

And, if it is relevant, I’m using php 5.2.9

Well this explains why the problem was so difficult to track – I disabled the broken link checker plug-in and all the relative links changed back to absolute links.

I’m going to post a message in the plug-ins and hacks forum.

This is very frustrating. The relative addressing reoccurred overnight.

Which means it’s not the Redirection plug-in causing the problem.

Yesterday I selectively turned off plug-ins to see which ones changed the addressing, but the process appears to happen so slowly its hard to tell the guilty plug-in.

It looks very much as if the problem is John Godley’s Redirection plug-in. I’ll try contacting John’s support to see if there’s a fix.
