In reply to: [Database Cleaner] The plugin does not have a valid headerThanks for responding. I uninstalled the plug-in, but will give it another try and report back.

In reply to: [Twenty Twenty-Two] Verify ownership with Google Search ConsoleI didn’t mean to sound grumpy Kathryn, all help is gratefully received. What I meant was that you didn’t seem to address my question.
Full Site Editing will appeal to many WordPress users, but it takes things in a direction away from what I want from the software. It’s probably best to sit it out for now and stick with what I know.

In reply to: [Twenty Twenty-Two] Verify ownership with Google Search ConsoleThat’s not helpful. I already said I know I can do it with a plug-in. Are you saying it isn’t possible without or are you saying you don’t recommend it?
I got there by using the plug-in Alvaro recommends, then the code. It works.

In reply to: [Twenty Twenty-Two] Gallery block observationI think you’re right that the change coincided with the change in WordPress versions. Moving to WordPress 6 broke some of the other things in the earlier theme, or at least broke my customisation.
That works perfectly, thanks.
I couldn’t find the source of the top margin, but fixing it with CSS works.
“`Did you encounter this issue once you switched SEO plugins?”
Yes. But that could be co-incidence. I can’t see any obvious cause and effect.
“If you go to the coverage report with errors, you can click on the example links. You’re provided an option to inspect the link. There, you’re provided an option to “View Crawled Page.” (If this option is greyed out, hit “Test Live URL” first, that might resolve the issue though.)”
Testing the pages ALWAYS shows they are fine, but the report doesn’t change even after requesting their inclusion.
@Sybre I suspect it is NOT a plug-in issue, but wanted to make sure. Your response suggests it isn’t related to SEO Framework.

In reply to: [The SEO Framework – Fast, Automated, Effortless.] Two site mapsThanks. That answers my question. And I think it answers the other question I had: Is it safe to delete the second sitemap from Google Search Console?
Presumably the answer is yes?

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Author links show up as broken linksHi Jeroen
I missed Maybellyne’s response.
In the end I hid the author links, so fixed the problem.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Page shows on the site, but registers as a 404 errorI have to admit I was scared about messing with permalink. But this was helpful in a roundabout way. What I suspected in the earlier post was that, somehow, the cache wasn’t clearing out the page, changing the permalink to a p number and then finding the page really was missing after all meant I solved the issue.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Page shows on the site, but registers as a 404 errorYes. I’ve turned off WP-Rocket, which has caching, purged the browser cache on my computer and can still see it, but if you can’t see it, that implies it is a caching problem. I guess what I’m seeing is nothing to do with WordPress and everything to do with caches not purging properly.
Thanks.
I wanted to wait until a quiet time to do this, just in case ??
It seems to have worked fine. We can mark this as resolved.
Thanks.
It’s not enabled.

In reply to: [Shoreditch] Weird XML sitemap for Shoreditch themeYes, this is exactly what was bothering me. Shoreditch is the idea theme for my purpose, but it can be a struggle to get your head around how this works when you’re not a developer.
Thanks Jerry this has fixed it for me.

In reply to: [Shoreditch] Weird XML sitemap for Shoreditch themeThanks Jerry
I may have this wrong, but it looks to me like the problem IS specific to the Shoreditch theme. That’s because Shoreditch allows you to assemble a front page for a site by stitching together material from a series of pages.
The text you place on a page… including the H1 text would be the page title, shows up on that front page, so unless you want multiple H1 headlines on a page you have no choice but to leave the title blank.
