Recaptcha option didn;t make any difference, they continued to submit the form every minute.

With 60 every hour I’ve now had to disable the form because I can’t filter legitimate enquiries from the spam.

If they are using humans why would they try hundreds of times and keep coming back if they haven’t managed to crack the form?

I can see that a human spammer could be used to bypass the captcha but they would just be sending spam to me as the form recipent and so what would be the point.

I am more concerned that the form is being used to broadcast spam. How are they doing this, human or not? Surely your script should prevent them adding additional recipients?

It is my own theme. I’m just looking for some ‘if then’ code, something like

I also have this problem both localhost(xampp) and my webhost (1and1) with wp ver 4.6.1.

How is your patch used? Do I just put the code in functions.php?

Hi, yes I’ve already gone the html route but it’s not a very client friendly solution. I’m using the caption text as a button and just sort of expected the link to be associated with the caption rather than the slide.

Just realised that my problem is actually with NextGEN Gallery Media Library Addon so closing this.

ok so anticipating that the response was going to be ‘upgrade’, I have upgraded wp to 4.5 and the plugin to 2.1.31.

And it’s made no difference. I can’t activate any other plugin without getting the fatal error message that refers to nggallery_abspath

Came across your post following having another maintenance plugin stop working. I assume that wordpress has changed something in the core that these plugins required to work. Unfortunately wordpress’s plugin directory never gets cleaned so it is hit or miss finding an alternative supported plugn that works.

In phpmyadmin I can still see the databases and table content. So that’s all intact.
All databases use the wp_ prefix as specified in wp-config.
I know the db user/pw is setup ok because all sites use the same db user for test purposes and my non-wordpress sites are working fine with this user.
I’ve got backups but I’d like to understand why its all gone wrong.

That article refers to not receiving emails, that is not my problem since as I explained the form works when used in a widget. I can’t see anything in that article that would explain why the form works in a widget and not on a page.
