Heck..I am really sorry for these random postings. I cannot maintain my composure when I am faced with a calamity I guess!!! The problem was resolved earlier and WP must have deactivated the plugins on its own. I just activated them once again and the website is running fine. Thanks so much Jeremy for your help and patience ??

Jeremy – thanks for the prompt reply. I did just that and it asked me to upgrade the database when I tried to login again. However, after the upgradation, it failed to recognize my previously installed plugins. Any idea why this is happening?

Ok my apologies for this. This problem was caused by a WP plugin called Flickr Photo Gallery. I deactivated the same and the problem has been resolved. Sorry once again and WP truly rocks ??

There’s a plugin which I use called ‘Comment Timeout’. The URL for more information is https://www.jamesmckay.net/categories/wordpress/comment-timeout/.

It basically allows to have complete control on how and when a particular post should close the comments.

Try it and let me know if it was helpful.

Hi Cornelis. I just gave up on this thread after seeing the number of responses, therefore the delay in replying. The sidebar issue still exists on my website but mostly limited to the category pages. Otherwise the entire site has been performing beautifully. Let me know if you find a solution to this problem so I can implement the same.

Resolved the issue. I just updated the Permalink structure from the Admin panel ? Options. Thanks and apologies for posting so soon ??

thanks for replying Richard. No I did not create this page rather it represents the ‘General’ category. I hve not changed the code except for deleting some unwanted “code” relating to Adsense, which was a part of the original theme. However, I would recheck the code once again.

I think I have hit a major roadblock here in implementing 2.1 on my server ??
