If I am willing to let go the fancy of “Pretty” permalink, it works.

I used the fix from https://blog.taragana.com/index.php/archive/wordpress-tip-on-permalink-options

php.ini and /index.php/ in permalink. I removed the fix from https://www.keyboardface.com/IIS-Permalinks/ while I was at it.

I have “Almost Pretty” permalinks but hey someone said Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ??

I really had hardtime understanding permalink. Since the host is not under my control (it is hosted somewhere else).

I configured permalinks to custom structure “/%category%/%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%/”. That still did not work yesterday until after I implemented fix suggested in https://www.keyboardface.com/IIS-Permalinks/.

I suspect that the 404 redirects are not handling this page properly.

Can you help me correct this? I would love to fix this instead of working around the problem using 404 redirects.

p.s. I am Exchange expert, I would not know a thing about writing rewrite rules… ??
